Base vs tech pkg?

Opinions or experience question - Is it worth the savings not to get a tech pkg 2016 car to save around 10k on the cost (no track pack either)? i.e. not having the magnetic, larger screen/nav, etc? Thx.

I was on the fence before ordering too. Then I decided the 3 month wait was enough time to save for the difference. Love the heated/cooled seats, the magnaride, the good neighbor toggle switch (not sure if the base gets that?), and the big screen really helps when I back into the small space I have in the garage.

Its what I did, and its fine for me. How much you need cooled seats, don't fit in the recaros, etc is up to you.

Interestingly for once the used car price guides have the track/tech listed instead of the usual "premium alloy" crap. So don't expect a free $7K used resale out the gate.

That said, good luck finding a base unless its right in front of your face. They had to be special ordered by the dealer or customer. Which with the higher profit from more options makes the base pretty much only a custom order.

Who wouldn't hop on a Base Competition Orange at MSRP? Which I think all Canadian dealers sell at but correct me if I'm wrong.

A 2017 discontinued color (that stands out and looks great) and as everyone has pointed out you still get the heart of what makes any GT350/R special.

So far with less than 3 weeks of 2016 production left, Competition Orange is the least ordered (rarest) color GT350 with only 175 produced.

If either the Base or Tech cars,without transmission and diff coolers, are driven really hard, the transmission overheats and the sensors put you into limp mode (reduced power / rpms) until it cools.
