I just noticed the base steering wheel on my 16 GT with 14k miles looks like crap where I tend to hold the wheel. There's no turning back, I'm extremely surprised there is this much wear with so little driving. Before I drop $300 on a GT350 wheel, are there any products that can help restore or prevent this wear?

I've got a stock 16 base GT wheel just sitting in my garage. I have no problem giving it to you for free. Just pay shipping. Let me know.

Very generous of you! However, I don't need it. The wear is only noticeable in direct sunlight, and it'll just happen again. I'm thinking all base wheels end up like this, just want to stop it from getting worse if possible

Same thing has been progressively getting worse on my 16. Noticed today that where my left hand usually sits on the wheel has worn the top layer on the pleather away so that now the surrounding edges are pealing up the skin around a popped blister. This is in addition to a few other spots.

I remember reading another thread on here discussing taking it in for warranty so maybe give that a try. Unfortunately I'm SOL there.

Gt350 wheel would wear worse with the alcantara. There are companies that will recover your wheel with better materials (not a slip cover actually remove and replace the material)
