I also drive my 2017 Mustang GT at auto cross events.Just spoke with my buddy in Seattle and his 2017 GB Base R only had a Black roof and no stripes therefore this car is now down to a 1 of 2 or 1 of 1 car.
How did you like driving one of these spartan Base R's on the auto cross course?
I have not driven a Base R on an auto cross course but have driven a couple of them at Sebring and had a terrific time.
When the instructor took over we were hitting ~140 MPH in 4th gear which was well beyond the speed that we could not generate in a 2016 Track Pack car on the same part of the track.
Good luck as where this is a will there is a way!
Coming from that, it felt like a completely different animal.
Probably my favorite things about the R cars is the exhaust note and the wing.
I only had it up to around 50mph so a long long way from the limits of the car.
I would kind of like a base R because of the (race car) attitude it has. And very rare.
Auto cross is a lot of fun and a lot safer then going to the track. (I would love to track one to just saying)
That grabber blue base R has to be about as rare as any modern mustang can be.
(Not including PP or test cars)
Here’s to hoping it’s doesn’t sell again....so I can buy it later.
I did talk to him a couple months ago and he is selling it to get a 2020 CFTP GT500.
