Ummm,
Not to sound tooo skeptical, but,
How can they quote gains on a car they don't even have yet?

First off... Credit to Brent302 for finding these links on americanmusle.com!

Looks like BAMA has tunes ready for the Ecoboost 15. States dyno tested gains of 20RWHP and 75+RWTQ! That would put the ecoboost at 330hp and 395ft-lbs.... Damn that 395ft-lbs is very tempting.... Just when I thought I had my mind made up... :frusty:

Not likely...The car isnt even on the street yet.....:(

15 Mustang's have been in the hands of aftermarket companies for some time now. Look a few threads down and you will see Cobb has an ecoboost and have been testing/developing on it for some time. Now as to wether BAMA has an Ecoboost, I do not know. What I do know is that this engine holds lots of potential which is why I will be picking up an ecoboost as soon as I can.

Wait until you guys see what Bama has in store for the 2015 Mustang! Follow @bamaperformance on twitter, @bama_performance on instagram or their Facebook page for dyno results, videos, etc. coming soon.
I have a n55 PPK2... & I am eagerly waiting to see what this 2.3 is capable of, on a reliable hi power tune.

If Bama had the car, the units shouldnt be in pre order status and they should be posting before/ after dyno plots....

Stay Tuned, We'll definitely be in here posting their findings! I know that they're really excited to literally dive into the EcoBoost and I'm anticipating some really incredible gains on their end!

Just to throw an update up here: Bama has been hard at work with the team at SCT to make some power and SCT just shot over some preliminary results from their testing!

STOCK HP: 231.70
STOCK TQ: 288.24

TUNED HP: 266.87
TUNED TQ: 334.28

This makes for peak HP gains of 35 and peak TQ gains of 46! The gains throughout the curve were as high as 75 RWHP and 58 RWRQ due to Boost being electronically conrolled within the tune using an electronic wastegate!

While we've seen some higher stock HP figures on other EcoBoost 2015's the TQ numbers are spot on and Bama should have their hp/tq numbers up soon!

Uhh a 25% drivetrain loss? That doesn't seem right. Great gains, nonetheless.

We're seeing where it drops off as well and while we've seen higher numbers on other EcoBoost cars the stock TQ numbers are right on par with others! I'm confident there's some extra HP locked up in there as well for being apart of their first few pulls!

What kind of dyno is this? What gear are you guys using for the pulls?

I understand the TQ is up there with the other dynos so far so the HP being so low makes little sense

The manual transmission cars should see around 12% drivetrain loss and automatics will be closer to 15-16%. The stock run on this definitely dropped off in a big way and didn't make the expected 260's/270's that other stock graphs have shown. The Bama team will give us their numbers here shortly and an explanation for why those stock numbers dropped off like that!

These are SCT's preliminary results, so we'd have to default to them. Bama Performance uses a Dynojet 224xLC and will have their own stock and tuned numbers shortly!

So we just got stock numbers from our 2015 EcoBoost Automatic with a little bit of 87/93 mix left in the tank and here's what we saw.

Stock Horsepower (SAE Correction on Dynojet 224xLC): 271HP
Stock Torque (SAE Correction on Dynojet 224xLC): 290TQ

Great numbers! Especially for an automatic! However...

THE PROBLEM:
EcoBoost owners are going to run into power restrictions that are built into the factory Ford controls. Example: Our second run on the dyno, the torque was similar at 288TQ. However, the horsepower dropped to 239HP! This is because peak torque occurs early and the boost level dropped between 2-3psi from ~3500 RPM and up. Under certain conditions, the factory tune will limit power and hurt your overall performance at higher RPM's.

THE SOLUTION:
Wait until the Bama Performance team loads up their custom tunes that allow consistent boost numbers across the board and make HUGE power and torque gains comparing against stock numbers with or without restricted power!

Stay tuned in this thread... (pun intended)

Chris

Not trying to be a negative Nancy, but the factory tune isn't just pulling power for fun. It's pulling it because it's either sensed a knock condition or high IAT, or something else...

tricking the ECU to ignore that isn't necessarily a good thing.
