My daughter's 2016 Fusion just started having an issue with the backup camera a few days ago. It's not part of any recall so I think it'll be up to me to sort out. The OEM replacement camera is spendy, up to about $300 for Fusions built before summer 2016 (which hers was), and less expensive off-brand cameras (including Dorman) seem to have an issue properly rendering/displaying the guidance lines even after doing the calibration i.e. introducing the new camera to the LIN or whatever it's called.

At least the cameras in my pre-2019 F150 and Mustang are still working properly. Hey Fate, yeah, I'm talking to you, take that poke in the eye you @#R@.

The backup camera failed on my '12 Edge several years ago. I replaced it with what I thought was an OEM part. I was never able to get the guide lines to work, even using Forscan. I now believe I bought a counterfeit part. The camera itself works fine and I've gotten used to not having the lines. I considered taking it to a dealer for programming but didn't find it important enough to spend the money.

It's not every car, I typed the VIN for my 19 GT into the NHTSA website and it said no active recalls

I did the same and mine didn’t come up. Ford said notices are going out July 28, so the NHTSA site will probably get updated after that. 200,000 over all the different models and years still won’t cover every vehicle though.

I'll keep tabs, but I'd think the delay would reflect the admin burden of printing and mailing 200k letters - figure if they have a total count, they must have a searchable file listing the cars affected

The last recall that affected my car, I got a notification pushed to my FordPass app well before I got a letter in the mail. If you use FordPass it will probably show up there first
