Hello,

Just curious if anyone has had the same issue. Finally got around to get a couple of my recalls done which included the back up camera. Dealership apparently did something with the wiring harness for the back up camera and now the guidence lines and the magnifying icon have disappeared. I asked the service rep and she said that it may take a couple of weeks to re-initialize??

Same thing happened to me, and I think they are BSing you on the reset. It has been 3 months since the recall and they are not too eager in helping me out.
I started just thread yesterday and got no response...

If you have/use Forscan you can look to see if they are turned on. If the lines are off you should be able to turn them on if you can find the setting. If the car thinks they're on then there's a good chance something is wrong with the camera or wiring.

The backup camera has two recalls. The two recalls have different models and years. Some models and years that apply to one are not part of the other. What was the recall number?

And this is why I still have not taken mine in for any back up cam recall “fix”…. The received letter has been sitting for at least a good 5 months now.

I’ve read too many threads on here where M6Gers have taken in their S550 for the back up cam recall and only ended up with issues afterwards…

My 2018’s back up cam has not had one issue since I’ve owned the car since new… IMO, if it’s not broke, don’t take it in for it to be broken…

22S06 has two recalls as it says in the document. The recalls just happen to both be discovered the same way of the backup video going out.

Recall #1 - camera
The lines might temporarily come back by disconnecting and reconnecting the battery and disappear again after a few reverses. The lines are not generated by the camera. They are generated elsewhere. New camera install does not have a calibration procedure or calibration step per the install instructions of the service manual. The magnifying glass also does not work when the lines are missing. Unfortunately the manager was incorrect. There is no lingering calibration after a new camera is in.

I don't know which recall was done on your car. A dealer will apply one, both or none after an inspection.
