Axle back vs cat back

Curious what are your thoughts on the subject, catbacks vs axleback? Which are better for sound, which are better for performance or do they offer both?

No difference really if you cut out the resonator

Catback is easier because everything from downpipe back is in a kit.

Axleback is axleback mufflers, if you cut the resonator out and put a Y pipe. That’s now essentially a cat back.

I putaxleback and then roush y pipe.

Neither offers more power. The exhaust after the catalyst is not a restriction in these cars. If you have a turbo set-up that is capable of 400 wHP, we can talk. On a stock motor, no improvement in power. Zero. Nada. It's all about sound.

I've heard good sounds from both axleback and catback exhaust. I chose a catback because it sounded good (MBRP Street) and it seemed easier to install than the axleback. With the axleback you are going to need something to cut through the pipes. If you have the tools, then I would say go for it. Neither is going to add much if any in terms of additional power. Find a sound you like (if listening on youtube be sure to use headphones that have good base because it will give you a clearer picture of how these exhaust actually sound) and pull the trigger.
