Hi all,

For those of you running e85, what do your afr's average according to your dash display when you're just cruising along? My car is stone stock other than the tune, and I'm seeing afr's bounce around from 10.1 to 10.6 or so. That seems a little rich to me for such a low load situation.

Stoich for e85 is 9.8/1. If you have a flex tune though it can differ depending on ethanol content and other variables.

^^^ This. Your car will idle and cruise at the stoich of whatever fuel you're using. Or as close to it as possible. E85 is 9.8. It's pretty hard to find true 85. E70-77 is about 10.2-10.1.

You're normal, nothing to worry about.

Damn, I was hoping it could be leaned out some. Mileage, especially in the city, is pretty bad. We're talking 10 to 11 mpg here. Highway mileage is low 20s.

I would be happy with that mileage.

That is also normal on ethanol as roughly 30% more volume is needed to create the same heat energy as a gasoline based fuel.

For cruise conditions only, on e85 only, what would be the consequences of leaning it out close to the point of misfire? I wouldn't think you'd burn anything up, including the cat converters, because the ethanol burns so much cooler than gasoline.
