I want to just buy a fully stuffed, new 3.31 rear end. Where can I purchase? I don't want to touch my stock 3.73, I want to remove it and keep it for the day I go back to stock.

I bought mine off of ebay. Paid $500 plus $150 shipping for a 3.31 loaded with 10 miles on it. I was building my 4.09 with Wave Trac and like you wanted to just drop the loaded 3.73 and reinstall loaded 4.09.
Still have the 3.73 loaded and the 3.31's with the carrier for sale.

Yea I see a few out there, but no guarantee on stated miles and I am not that savvy to tell the difference of aluminum or iron or if its the right one to bolt up in my car.

Thanks guys. Are all 3.31 going to be LSD? And aluminum? Is aluminum ok behind a 700whp+ stick car?

The 3.31 came in non PP stick cars and it will be a clutch style traction lock in a iron housing.

I have a 3.15 with 18.6k on it iron. In CT also.
Thanks, though I think 3.15 might be too low of a gear? Anyone else have opinions?

Depends on your tire size. If you run a 26"-27" the 3.15 will probably work OK. If you are running a bigger diameter tire then I would stay with the 3.31.

If you go with a 3.15 and want to keep your 3.73 as is, you'll need to get a pinion flange. The 3.15 only came in autos and the flange is different than on manual cars
