Automatic vs Manual

who likes an auto or manual mustang. I'm swayed towards manual because its more fun to drive and it has a better looking gear stick. Who else?

Haha! Our family was just taught stick so we didn't have to put up with not being able to drive

I like them both equally, but chose the automatic for a few reasons.

I like having the option to not have to shift gears after a 10 hour day at the office and a 40-45 mile drive home. My wife can drive it, if absolutely necessary. If I decide to drag race it some, I like the consistency of the automatic and building boost off the line. The automatic (6R80) is a bit stronger than the manual (MT82). The manual car I drove was clunky and notchy going in and out of gears, etc.

That's not to say the manuals are bad by any means, but for me and my personal usages, the automatic is a better fit.

Don't know how to drive a manual, and am afraid of destroying the engine with an accidental shift into first gear at 65 mph.

I also figured when I get older I can just jump in and roll without dislocating my old hip or shoulder lol
Plus I still have my 2000 stick GT to play with and drive on occasion. The LE is the new baby now.

i went manual. my last Mustang was an auto, but i just enjoy driving a manual more than i do an auto.

My wife would kill me if I bought an automatic. She only knows how to drive a stick.

Manual as it is more engaging and make for a better experience imo. Plus I feel it makes you a better overall driver as you have to know what gear to be in for a specific situation.

I used to prefer manuals but now find them tedious and annoying thanks to age, arthritic knees, and city traffic. I also couldn't bring myself to buy another MT-82. I had one in my '11 that was an endless source of headaches. By comparison, the 6R80 is bulletproof and just works. Put the car in Sport+ mode and it's all the fun I personally need.

Agreed, but I will say the feel of a hydraulic clutch vs a cable is world's apart. I enjoy the connection you get with a cable setup. The hydraulic is easier, but not as connected, imho

Advantages to both, but if my PP was offered in an auto I would have bought it. Traffic sucks with a stick shift!!! For a daily driver I'd get an auto, for a weekend car definitely get the stick.
