For commuting in heavy traffic, stop and go, autos are superior and the performance penalty in sport driving has diminished over the years. When I'm sitting low to the ground, with a stick shift, it is a taste I've acquired over the years, thanks largely to my wife, the Mustang nut. (RIP)
I too enjoy that "taste" you describe as well but my left knee says otherwise.

I'm just getting use to the paddle shifters, for me it's the best of both.

Funny, I`ve driven a lot of really high end Imports like Ferrari`s etc that have all gone A/T with Paddle Shifters and I just don`t get the gimmick? If its A/T, just use the floor lever, click it into "D" and go. Its like "Texting" with your fingers using the paddles on the steering wheel instead of your Phone, just saying....

If i had a normal car, cruiser or an suv i would be fine with an automatic. I grew up in europe and we didn't have the luxury to drive auto's due to the fact that they are being so over priced back in the day. For a car like mustang or any other sports car if you are a car enthusiast, you will totally appreciate the manual trans. It connects you more with car, you feel more in control and u are actually riding that beast instead of putting it on auto pilot. Thats how i feel. Is it faster than an auto? Ofcourse not, there is a little trade off. But who cares that feeling it gives you is worth it. I love my mustang and manual trans.

For some of us it all boils down to where you happen to live and how much constant stop & go traffic you have to deal with daily.

Besides - it will cost a small fortune to replace the manual with an automatic. A lot more than the $1,195 upcharge for the automatic in the first place.

That $1.195 will more then pay for itself at Trade In time. Unless its a GT V8, thousands will be reduced for manual Transmission. Check Hearst Black Book for valuations.

Calling out OKC #1 spot after axle back install.
You can pay a transmission shop to remove the manual transmission and put in an automatic transmission.
+1
Its the only way to fix the mt-82.

Anyone that is that unsure of whether ot not to order a Brand New S550 Mustang with either Manual or Automatic TRansmission and afterwards pays a Transmission Shop to swap it out for the opposite Transmission is simply out of their mind.

Why is that?
I almost did that with my 2012, picked up a 2015 with an auto instead.

Are you serious? The Manual Transmission comes as "standard" equipment at (no) extra charge. Adding the Automatic Transmission adds a $1200 upcharge. Having an aftermarket 6 speed manual transmission replacing what you could have had originally for "free" adding the cost of the Manual Transmission, Linkage, and "LABOR" would cost several thousands of dollars. Your not serious, are you?:frusty:

Phil I am going to admit something I am not very proud of.
Back in 2011, I was all up on that MT82 bandwagon. I was so happy with my car, plans were to turbo the car and have a 700 rwhp 5.0. I had small issues with the transmission and went along buying bandaids to try and fix my mt82. Before I went and had a CPR turbo kit installed.
I then found out the transmission would not be able to hold the power I had planned to run through it. All of the auto cars were holding that with no issues in bone stock form. I then started hating my mt82, and quickly started to try and find a junk yard 6r80 to swap in.
Turns out, there is a lot more to a transmission swap than just changing the transmission. 6r80s were being sold like hotcakes from poor souls who made the same mistake I did.
I wanted a 700 go car, so I began to build a car that would be up to the task. What better than my 6M 04 sti? 700 awhp and a tad over 3k lbs.....it was too good to pass up.
When I did pick up my 2015, I knew I would not make the mistake of going with the mt82 again.
I still have the 12, I love to hate the car.
Plans for the 15, is to one day be able to beat the sti in the 1/4.

x2. That's why I have a GT auto on order. I shan't be happy if Ford bring out the auto with PP for 2016!
