I'm having trouble finding any reviews for the GT Automatic. I'm very interested in how the paddle shifters feel and perform. Please post a link if you've read or watched a review that they talk about the auto transmission. Thanks so very much!:help:

Can't remember which one's they were in, but the one's I read were surprised how well it worked, but would still rather have a stick. Don't remember specifics on the paddles though.

I read one that indicated "D" was still basically a slushbox with sluggish downshifts, etc. "S" was better and paddles produced "rapid shifts on command" or something to that effect. This was on the EB I believe but they're the same transmission I believe.

I can give a personal experience with the paddles. I wasn't driving. Just sitting in a Ecoboost that my dealer had for training.

Great positioning. Your fingers naturally rest on them.

Very short travel so they didn't feel all flappy. Downside was they felt more like pressing a button.

Very firm positive feel to them.

Not my cup of tea but I'm sure those who get the Auto will love it. It feels much better then the 13/14 +/- buttons on the shifter.
Not much but it gives you an idea

Pretty much all of the EBs tested were 6AT PPs. So there are some reactions, which are reported above. The TLF GT had a 6AT, but that video turned out to be a comedy act involving a California Highway Patrol officer, not an evaluation.

Overall, sounds like Ford did good. It's not a DSG, but for a torque converter automatic it sounds pretty good, and the 6AT has proven to be grenade-proof, so that's a good thing.

 anything is better than those pathetic buttons on the side. I've had them on several Ford rentals while on business trips and they are worthless. Chevy also copied with the equally worthless +/- rocker on top of shifter knobs in past years as well.

Personally, I refuse to own an auto but they do make up the overwhelming majority of transmissions in the US. It's way past time Ford made it halfway decent. Now they need to catch up on number of gears, simplified gearsets, etc.

If they're anything like my Flex, I wouldn't be impressed. "S" mode on the transmission is the way to go, just set it and forget it. The paddles are very lazy and don't care which gear you selected, it is going to shift how it wants. Maybe they've worked on it for the Mustang, but they're a dud in a 2013 Flex.
