After it rained here yesterday my headlights are always on even when driving. I have the switch set to automatic mode so they should turn off but they aren’t. I tried to clean the sensor on the dash, didn’t help. I can turn them off manually and then when I do that the gauges go dark. No white in the numbers and no red in the needles. Would anyone know why?

Are your wipers still on? How's the battery? Do you have the intervals set really long for the auto lights? If you cover your daylight sensor do the interior lights eventually turn on?

Wipers are turned off, I even turned off the Courtesy Wipe because I never use it. Battery is good, showing 13.9 V but I know that’s probably nothing, no battery issues. My autolamp delay is 20!seconds. If I cover the sensor the interior lights are still dark when everything is switched off on the headlight controller.

Was it a lot of rain? Did any come into the car?
Are your drain points clear? Any wet spots on carpets?

Well I'm stumped, hopefully someone smarter can weigh in.

I was thinking maybe seepage could have moistened some electronics. If the drain points get clogged and overflow this can happen. Particularly the one near the battery.

My guess would be the headlamp switch. You can test the sunlight sensor at the switch too.

Don’t the panel lights normally turn off when you turn off the exterior lights? What happens when the switch is in the parking light position?

The sensor is not on the dash. It's on the windscreen, in the box behind the rearview mirror.
The one on the dash is a sunshine sensor for the climate control.
