Haven't watched the video yet (at work) but I'm glad they've addressed it. Can anyone give me a synopsis? :D

You've no doubt already pored over our first drive of the 2015 Ford Mustang, where author Jonathon Ramsey proclaimed that "this new car shames the old, redefines the model and gallops far ahead of anything else in the segment." And following Ramsey's first stint behind the wheel of Ford's new coupe, we sent him back out with another 'Stang to capture some of these same impressions over a backdrop of the car moving quickly along gorgeous California canyon roads.

But this also gave our author and editors time to read through the hundreds of comments left on that original Mustang review. You readers are indeed a vocal bunch, and one particular comment about how the automotive media is so willing to bash an outgoing car as soon as the new one arrives really caught our attention. In this video, Ramsey stands by his written text, saying the new Mustang is "massively better than the one it replaces," and in doing so, addresses your comments while providing more insight into just how good the Ford truly is.

Ha, I was just watching this video.
Focused on the rear independent suspension.
It was putting a smile on his face.

He really did like the car (the 2015) that much. "It is massively better than the outgoing one." He thinks it can do things the old one can't. He criticizes the old steering and suspension. He claims that he never said that the old car was great. While other people excused the issues, he maintains that he never did. He felt like only the hipo models fixed the issues, but they are above 50K. He thought that was unreasonable when you compare it with what else you could get for the same money.

The new model fixes all of that out of the gate. The first Mustang that handles well without going aftermarket or buying a hipo model. Much better communication between front and rear suspension. He also likes the new brakes much more. He feels like with the 2015 he doesn't have to make excuses for it, and he can just enjoy it.

He does admit that it isn't perfect. The steering still has some issues (same as what other people have said), and the weight transfer going into corners is a bit abrupt and it floats a bit. "Best Mustang interior you have seen off the factory floor." It stays planted and does what you want it to do. To get a car that is better you are going to have to spend a lot more money.

Short answer: he raved about it! The video is excellent, check it out. His closing statement "this isn't a new chapter in Mustang history, it's a new book" sums it up nicely.

A lot of whats been said in other reviews. This car is leaps and bounds ahead of the previous generations. The guy driving the car stated that he did not like the previous generations at all due to the lack of ride comfort (old suspension). And that the 2015 mustang is the car that lets him drive the places he loves to drive (mountain roads). Not much else that we haven't head already from every other review that loves this car.

Excellent video. However, I found it annoying that Ramsey continuously felt the need to resort to extreme exaggeration to illustrate his points. For example (5:15):

This bump, in a previous generation car, I'd either be digging dirt out of my door or they'd be calling a helicopter to get me out of a canyon.
I've owned a 2013 Mustang GT/CS and a 2011 Mustang GT (and others) and, while the rear axle might get upset at a big bump, it was never so bad that I would worry about ending up at the bottom of a canyon.

I think most everyone would agree that the new Mustang is much better overall than the previous generation. It would be a surprise to most if it weren't. But, there's no need to resort a ridiculous level of exaggeration to emphasize the point.

Otherwise, it's an excellent video. Kudos to Ramsey and Autoblog for doing it!

What is that weird circular pod sitting on the driver's side hood you see from some dashcam shots here? (it's at 2:37 in the downloaded video.) I thought it might be a GoPro but it's painted the same color as the car.... but I don't see it from the external shots of the car.

+1.

I imagine his steering/suspension 'issues' would be solved with it.
Suspension yes, steering - doubtful as the PP does nothing to the steering rack. That free play he complained about is not a suspension issue. The car could do with a faster rack ratio for sure.
