Has anyone bought the auto mirror fold kit from AliExpress? (used to be this one)

Also, is there any reason it would say 2015-2019? Did anything change after this? I'm keen to get this onto my 2021 GT, but curious why they only list up to 2019.

Or is there another similar kit that does the same job?

Thanks!

Wait, mine only fold when I push them in. There is no motor that folds them, just adjusts the angle of the glass, not the housing...

Only the non-USA market mustangs have the power folding mirrors

Well that's just too bad for the majority of stang owners...and great for the rest of the world.

Yea, it's pretty cheap. I reckon I'll give it a go. It's utterly stupid they don't auto fold, when they have the functionality for folding with a button.

So I ended up buying this, and it arrived today. It's going to be one of this weekend's projects. Will report back how it goes.

Yes, do post the DIY and images if you have the time. I'm curious as to how this will work on a US model.

I know the US mirrors can be manually folded inward, but it does take some pressure to do it; so my curiosity is if the aftermarket kit has strong enough motors to make that transition happen.

I have an Aussie GT, which already has the powered mirrors already installed. This kit is just circuitry to automate the folding when doors are locked. Ford were so stupid to not include this functionality.

Oh... gotcha (or got me.... LOL). I hadn't looked at your location or the kit. I thought with the Euro Mustang if it had the self leveling headlights it would have had auto-folding mirrors too, guess not.

Ford can add the auto fold on US specs mustangs, they chose not to. My explorer ST has it and it was sold new in Ohio, so it is a US spec explorer.

Just finished doing this. It all went smoothly, and was easy enough to do. It was just a little fiddly making sure everything was neatly tucked away, so that the trim peices would back ok.

I used this video as a reference:

I'm really glad I did this mod, it works exactly as it should. I can't believe Ford didn't add this functionality, as everything is there already for i, at least on EU/AUS models..

I did find a couple of small "quirks" with it. I only had a very quick play with it, and didn't read the Engrish instructions, so maybe it mentions something about these.

1 - It doesn't appear to know the current position of the mirrors. Because if I'm sitting in the car, and manually fold the mirrors in. Then I get out and lock it, it'll fold the mirrors back out. It seems to just toggle between states, at least in this configuration. It's not an issue for me though, as I'm pretty much never going to manually toggle them closed.

2 - when the car is sitting unlocked, with the mirrors out (in my garage for example). When I go to open the door (and in turn press the unlock sensor on the handle), it folds the mirrors in. This isn't a problem, because they still fold out when the ignition is turned on. It just folds them while getting into the car, so it doesn't make any real difference. If anything, it just helps keep them out of the way.

After all is said and done, I would defnitely recommend this mod. It's cheap but adds a nice little additon of convenience and peice of mind when parking in a public place.

I didn't get an after-install photo of the guts of the door, completely forgot.

So it seems when the car is parked and left unlocked (in my garage for example), after a certain time (which I haven't confirmed), the mirrors fold in, even though it remains unlocked. This is handy, and pretty much negates point #2 above.

Well done OP. I take it this won't work with US-specked cars?
