My question was only about downshifts in full manual with the paddles. I have a BMW with their double clutch auto box which in manual mode rev matches on down shifts beautifully. Does the Stang?

The mustang has a torque converter rather than a clutch, thus engaging only 1 'gear' at a time where as the BMW has 2 gears engaged at all times which means rev matching is already achieved in a way.. so not quite the same in my opinion.

Also from memory... the BMW would allow you to redline the downshift in full manual and allow you to try and kill the car/wheel hop (not 100% on this as I only tried it a couple of times)... where as the mustang will not downshift under certain safety scenarios per other autos (which could be what you experienced).

That being said... all autos rev match on downshifts. The BMW would just do it a few miliseconds faster. But the difference is only noticeable under 'hard' conditions.

Its hard to compare the 2 cars. From my experience, the BMW was a very refined and very well designed car and nice to drive/cruise/speed etc and pretty, but after about 6 months it was just a really comfy sporty car. The mustang for me on the other hand has character and emotion. There is also a 2x price difference between the 2.

One is like a frigid model where as the other is a horny stripper. Plus I never got random thumbs up in the BMW or smiles or compliments. Nothing like overtaking trucks and being greeted with a thumbs up as you overtake or people crossing the road and giving you a smile.

On a separate note: I drove an auto once that worked perfectly fine during the Day. But wouldn't work at Night

No double clutch in the stang

As far as I'm aware BMW,merc and audi generally have more advanced gearboxes to some extent but use different tech. The mustang box isn't bad If you learn how to change properly it's not a problem really.

Speaking as a purist people are relying to much on the gizmos and the art of driving is starting to be lost. But that's another debate.

The same reason why there's so much issues with traffic on the freeway with people braking without using the gearbox to control there speed.

My suggestion would be test it first and see what you think.
