Man that's hefty???
Here in Victoria we can get 1-2 characters for less.
Maybe I'm missing something.
Once you pay for the plates in Qld there are no ongoing fees or charges, like there are in some states, not sure about Vic though?

Ok, I think double line SA plates win the internet today!
I bet they're cheaper than NSW too!

They are $200 per year so only cheaper for a period of time

We get stung $448 per year on top of initial purchase and there's no 2 line option in NSW "the tax state".

Had my plates at the RTA for a couple of months and paid $16 to get them out. I think you pay the yearly 'rental' fee (apportioned) from the day you put them in storage rather than when you get them out again. So no real dramas.
I'm shocked- charging you for storing the plates is such a rip off. When I ordered mine (way before the car was built) they held them until my dealer collected them, without charge (WA).

You get about 21 days free. After that it's "Welcome to the tax state"

Plus the 55 buck storage at RMS (if your car hasn't arrived)

My plates were 275 purchase for style
440 for the registration (despite not having a car to put them on)
55 for storage at RMS until my dealer picked them up

Took a lot of concentration (luck) to turn 20 bucks into 770, thanks Sportsbet...

For some reason this really put a smile on my face. An interesting and out of the box way to make a bit of extra cash considering it could have went the other way.:cheers:

I ordered mine 15 months before I got my car, just after I ordered it. They kept my plates for that 15 months without charge and the dealer went and collected them for me when they registered the car. I wonder how long it will be before they see the opportunity to start charging to hold plates like in other states.

Historic SA plate 550 is up for auction at the moment. Starting bid is a mere $21,999!:eyebulge:

Wow, I wonder how much it will end up going for. I think a lot more than that.
