Anyone have any tips, traps, suggestions for making shiny stainless steel mufflers black? Not a fan of the way they stand out and prefer them to be less noticeable. Have black tips but the rest of the muffler stands out like the proverbial dogs balls, I assume you can paint them with some special paint or get some other coating just not sure how to go about it.

There are companies around that coat them to what ever colour you want.

I'm painting my axlebacks this weekend, a quick de-wax then using gloss black brake caliper pair....it's rated to 500degrees so should be fine.

Loud by no means says it sounds good....

Haven't had a single person say it sounds bad and the only people that aren't impressed are the ones that would object regardless of whether it was 10db quieter or louder.

CEL isn't limp mode. You can drive around with a CEL pretty much no issues.

I've had another car disable cruise control when the CEL appeared for a header swap as the secondary O2 sensor didn't know what to expect. No idea if the stang would be impacted the same but you're def not getting a CEL with a catback only.

You can get plenty of high temp spray cans from autobahn or super cheap.
Engine enamel is the highest temp rating but you can get 2 more temp levels below it.
One is ceramic and other is lower for brake calipers.
I picked up engine enamel because it's temp rating is best. Comes in gloss, satin, black etc

Engine enamel isn't the highest rated. It's typically around the 250degC mark. You can get high temp stuff that's around 500degC rated (eg White Knight Hi Temp) designed for ovens, stoves, BBQs etc. Engine enamel should be fine on a muffler though.

A proper ceramic coating would be most durable but also most expensive. It'd probably outlast the muffler. Paint you might want to reapply every year or two simply due to stone chips etc.

Anyone have the AU/EU Borla catback fitted yet? I'm wondering how much louder than stock it is, because I want something no too loud, but louder than stock and with no drone.

I had the same requirements as you so I went the SLP Loudmouth 2 Axlebacks. They are essentially a Rousch "touring" version. They will be installed in a couple of weeks but of what Ive seen and heard they fit the bill...Cost about $800 too which is not to bad.

Hi Ciaran a great alternative is using the Borla S Type Axle backs which sound fantastic and you retain your existing resonator. Easy install. Also available in ATAK. Great bang for buck.

We are stocking the regular Borla Touring as it is somewhat louder than your EU Touring. Still not intrusive. Borla guarantee no Drone on all of their exhaust systems and we are happy to show you our car with the Cat Back S Type.

We have sold a lot of Borla and never a comeback or complaint. Unlike most other manufacturers Borla employ acoustic engineers and are also a certified supplier to Ford, GM, Chrysler as well as many others.

You should hear it now with the headers and high flow cats, its; a totally different sound, like a loud sporty V8 but not raspy but not as deep as it was, but it also doesn't fade away after 4k rpm lol

I reckon it's got some rasp to it now at high rpm. It was super deep before, now it's more high pitched. There were a couple of times at the last cruise when I was driving behind you and I thought to myself "now it's got that signature raspy coyote note", especially when you gunned it from a stop.

I really like the sound, liked it before too. It's cool how much it has changed with headers.
