Well apparently it does on some of the Fords and Holdens (especially Holdens) as I just spoke to him. I bet in his tuning and performance shop he's done this many many times and it's good that he's AWARE of the issue that can occur, so he's been upfront and I respect that.

Hey guys, I am planning to put Borla S Type. My mechanic was asking me whether the engine light comes on wheh you change to a catback? He's seen that happening on the OZ fords and holdens, I'm not sure whether that's the case on the mustang too. Can someone please confirm?
I fitted a Borla c/b no problems what so ever with cel etc.

Can you do it yourself? It is really simple to do, and Ford have made it really easy to remove the stock system.

Ive put a cat-back on every Holden Ive ever had and never had a light come on?

No check light appears with any BORLA Cat Back or Axle Back exhaust system on the current Mustang.

If you have any questions please call me on 03 9553 6915

I have cloked just over a 1000 klms on mine with a xforce
Cat back and no check light. Loving the system at idle and full noise, very sweet sound to my ears ;)

Hi Guy's, I too will be upgrading my exhaust when my car arrives in about 6 weeks. I am a big fan of the Quad Tip look and have purchased the Roush "passive" AB. I am an Engineer and have built my own "active" system with a remote control open/close function (no wires). The cars a daily D for me but with 6AM start work, don't want to upset my neighbours..so dual exits for work and quad exits for play.. Getting very impatient ..Will update on my results...Cheers.

Does anyone know what the difference in sound and volume level is, for the Borla S Type 2.5" and 3"? I know that if I'm doing mods later on and perhaps pushing 650+, I will need 3" pipes. The thing is - I don't want to waste money twice, but also I don't want to risk it if the 3" is a lot louder than the 2.5". I am set on this particular exhaust, it's a matter of deciding the diameter before I place the order :)

I think sound level will be marginally different if at all....I would only go the 3" IF you are planning big HP down the track. I put a 2.5" on my current VF I usually always go 3" but the 2.5" sounds great its deep but doesn't drone whereas the 3" drone....(more a commodore issue than Mustang though)

The Borla 2.5 and 3.00 virtually sound the same. Same dBa range. Hope this helps

Hi Fred, what would the dBa range be with the Borla S 2.5 axle back on a stock GT.

In the order of ?? maxing out, much less in normal driving around town or highway cruising. So you can live with it nicely on a day to day and comes on strong when you extend the rpm same with the ATAK.

I was after a deeper tone than stock, but not too harsh. After tossing between the Roush Vs. Borla I finally made a decision! Purchased my Borla S ABs from Fred Vogtland Mustang. Very professional and friendly service - Fred even dropped the box at my place as he was worried it might not fit in my current car. Now all I need is the Mustang to get on the Figaro…
