If the PCM detects an air mass outside the std calibration it can set a code

Has anyone had the engine light come on after installing a standard catback exhaust?

Yeah it won't come up with catback as you are changing stuff after the sensor. I'm curious if those o2 sensor extenders will work and stop the light coming on, I think Hunter is going to test it out on his when he gets a chance :-)

Here is a thought.

In the early days of the BA Falcon exhaust swap outs, a lot of cars were throwing fault codes.
Two things were discovered.

Some shops were using patch cables or splicing in wire to connect to the o2 sensors. On some brands the sensor was not in the exact same position on the aftermarket header.
The small change in electrical impedance was notorious for causing idle ranging / flaring.

Also, some shops were using the wrong type of sealant, which kiled the sensors.

Good exhaust shops (Liverpool is one of these) and would know of these issues.

Oddly enough Perth Exhaust who have been around forever seem gone...that number says not in service??

Fitted the Borla S-type Axle back today and drove around. Seeing as there isn't too much talk of Borlas on this thread, I thought I'd give a mini review. I posted in here a while ago describing how I wanted a deeper, more refined tone with only a slight increase in volume over stock. After much research, I narrowed it down to either the Corsa Touring or FR Touring AB. Two weeks later, a Borla box arrived at my door

The S-Type AB is deeper than stock. To describe it in a strange way, it made the car sound "healthier", as if it had a sore throat before but its healed up now. Start ups are amazing, it sounds like a lions roar. It doesn't get raspy at all, not until the higher RPMs. From within the drivers seat cruising around, it sounds similar to stock but deeper.

The volume department is what I was concerned with as I wanted something on the modest side (P plate + loud exhaust = police attention). I'm happy to report that I have no problems with it at all. Overall, it is louder than stock but not obnoxious at all. Start up is about ~30% louder than stock. 2000 RPM is very similar to stock, theres no drone at all. 3000 RPM is around ~30% louder than stock and ~5000 RPM is quite loud, I'd say 60% over stock. So essentially, you control the volume with your right foot. I think for people looking for a slight volume increase, the S-type is no problem at all.

Aesthetically, I went with the black chrome tips and I think they match Magnetic well. The larger tips definitely look meaner. The quality of the mufflers seem to be very good.

Having no prior experience with exhausts, I'd definitely recommend the Borla S-type AB to those who are looking to refine the tone with a slight volume increase. (Can only imagine what the catback would sound like.)

My mechanic in Castle Hill has 2 days off moving house. Dropped past another mates shop last night but the hoist was busy. Jax sounds good. What time? Do you know someone there?

Met up with @Hunter today to fit in the o2 sensor extender. Relatively easy job, lets see how well it works - fingers crossed!
