So I have a spoiler to put on my 2015 GT convertible. The outside holes match the factory, best I can tell, but the inner holes do not match the spoiler holes and require drilling of the trunk. They aren't that much different from the factory, but enough to have to use new holes. However, I thought about putting new threaded inserts in the spoiler that match the factory inner hole locations. Has anyone done this? My other thought was to mount the spoiler with the outside holes and 3M tape that is supplied and then just use coarse thread machine screws and run them into the spoiler where the factory holes are. Drilling pilot holes and screws that are not too long of course. What do you think of these methods, ever tried it? Just hate to drill new holes and if I ever replace with another spoiler, it could mean even more new holes. Hate to make my truck look like Swiss cheese.

This might not be too helpful, but if you’re that opposed to drilling new holes you might consider returning the spoiler and getting one that uses factory holes… If not, new inserts in the spoiler is what I would likely do. I’d have to see the spoiler to know how difficult/easy that would be and how strong you could make it.

Returning it is not an option, I have it painted so it is mine to use. If I have to, I will drill the holes, just trying to avoid it if possible. The inserts should be easy since they are threaded and will screw into the plastic. Would probably put some sort of "super glue" on the threads as it is screwed in to lock it into the spoiler. The spoiler is the Foose spoiler from American Muscle, the shorter version.

I went through what you are. I chose to drill additional holes because I knew that was the only spoiler that gave the appearance I wanted...then and "forever". If you are questioning going with another spoiler in the future, you can take a really hard look at what's available on the market for convertibles, and then maybe you will be able to determine as I did..."This is it".
There are some amazing 3M double faced tapes out there, and I've read where some folks have relied on it alone. BUT....if you decide to go that route, clean, clean, clean. De-wax, de-ceramic coat, or whatever is potentially on your vehicle before relying on that bond. Personally, I chose to drill holes in my "forever" spoiler, and I'm good with that. But if I went only with double faced tape, I'd purchase some 1 inch or 2 inch wide of the high-bond offerings to give the spoiler the best chance possible of staying secured.
Keep in mind...if you bond this spoiler really well, you will incur an even greater challenge should you decide to remove it later to replace with another.

3M VHB with their adhesive promoter will hold it on for sure. It's insanely hard to remove.

OP I agree with @stannypack on the comment above.

The 3M adhesive is really good stuff.
If you don't want to drill at all, they have adhesive products that will be your friend for no drill spoilers.

^This!

- 3M Adhesion Promoter is a must use. Period.
- I used 3M Adhesion Promoter on the Roush 1/4 scoops and Hood Heat Extractors. Amazing product.
- As far as removal, it can be done very simply with time, patience, and fishing line.

Mine came with 3m adhesive, no drilling required I covered the holes with tape and used the 3m tape an adhesive

Mine was the same, only instead of new holes I just widened the existing holes and got really large washers to compensate for the larger holes.
