Who has done either a ATI or MMR balancer? Was there anything you didn't like about it? How was the install? How long did it take? I am getting ready to do a Whipple so I am going to swap the balancer for one of these. Any suggestions on balancers or installation would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

We use ATI here can't speak for MMR. Just make sure you use a harmonic damper installer.

Does anyone know if the stock crank pulley is balanced at the factory to the engine?

I have the Whipple 10 rib kit which uses ATI's harmonic balancer. The 10 rib kit was a must have for me and its expensive but the inclusion of the ATI harmonic balancer made it worth the cost to me. I like the piece of mind of having a harmonic balancer to keep vibrations at bay and be another level of protection. You can buy a stand alone ATI balancer if staying 6 rib.

I know a friend of mine gsxr1300 is using the MRR balancer with no issues. It is lighter than the ATI balancer but honestly that will make no noticeable difference. I am a firm believer in buy whats the best and in my opinion I would get the ATI, its what they do 100% of the time. They have proven themselves over many years from street cars to drag racing and you do get what you pay for.

The install isn't exactly easy but it is straight forward. If you are doing just the crank pulley and you have the correct puller on hand I would say about an hour.
