JP makes really nice stuff. Not sure of the diameter of your hand guard but noveske also makes one and their quality is up there with JP.

Strokerswild, I built a 260 Remington on an Aero receiver set. An SLR Rifleworks adjustable gas block fits under the m5E1 handguard, and is click adjustable using a hex wrench.

Armorally.com has your lower in stock for 133.20. I've purchased from them in the past and they are GTG.

Thanks for the tip on the SLR gas blocks, looks like nice stuff. All I'm waiting for now is my Aero handguard.

However, I did a headspace check on my barrel and I'm closing on a no-go gauge. Not good. Lots of conflicting info out there on whether headspace is super critical on an AR, but I'm an anal engineer so it seems like a good idea. But it makes me wonder if complete, off-the-shelf guns from most manufacturers would check out....

While on the subject of building ARs, anyone else go all the way with an 80% lower thru the rest of the build?

Polymer or AL? Given how cheap AR lowers are I think I'd go that route every time over a polymer 80% lower. I picked up a Spikes Punisher lower for $99 at a local gunshow.

Built on Al lower, just to see if I could, turned out nice. Works good. Did cost more than a stripped lower but is unique in its own way and doesn't exist in the real world.

The beast is assembled to my satisfaction. Now it's a matter of waiting for the range to thaw to tune the gas block and figure out what to put on it for optics....

That's a purty barrel you got there. What kind of buffer do you have? Also are you going to experiment with muzzle devices or is that A2 your final choice?

Standard .308 buffer. I'm told it should be fine if I can dial in my gas block (JP) properly. Time will tell.

I might play with muzzle devices, that one was just a cheap Aero unit.

If you really want to make friends at the range, i'd recommend a Lantac Dragon.

Standard buffer weight should be fine. If you want a smoother/quieter spring, JP Enterprises makes a very nice captured one. I have one in my Grendel and love it.

If your new friends in the next lane start bitching you can mount a blast diversion device onto that dragon haha! And I have JP captured springs in both my AR's, love them.
