Anyone use Tricky Performance?

Looking to get a ported throttle body and intake manifold. However, Lund doesn’t recommend it or want to tune it. Air Flow Solutions recommended Trevor at Tricky Performance. They tune for TB and IM. May get rid of my NGauge and Lund tunes and start over.

Anyone used a tuner for IM and TB or use Tricky Performance?

There is no real need to port the TB, a ported IM however is a good idea as they do have some room for improvement. Lund was most likely referring just to the TB as we do not normally see big gains from doing it and they tend to be worse than stock when it comes to drive ability on these coyotes. I would personally stick with Lund as they are some of the best tuners in the world for this platform. If you have any questions about this however, feel free to reach out to me anytime. Like Stephen was saying, Lund is the best in the business when it comes to Coyotes. The ported TB generally dont have good drive ability. That is what Lund is saying. They can tune the car, but they are warning you beforehand that there could be drive ability issues and it has nothing to do with the tune. With a ported TB you see maybe 5hp gains, so there really isnt a reason to spend the money on one when the stock TB works as good, if not better. As for the ported IM, you will see moderate gains. Brett at AFS is one of the best porters in the country and offers it a reasonable price. We have a ton of guys running theses manifolds with all different set ups and there really isnt any negatives.

If you want more throttle body flow just buy an aftermarket one. Like a BBK 90.

Thanks for the input Wildhorse. I know you are very knowledgeable. Do you have any suggestions on throttle body and/or intake manifold. I’ve read and watched videos until my head hurts. I’ve got a Lund tune. Lund didn’t want me to do either, especially TB. Air Flow solutions said Lund doesn’t want to modify section of tune to handle the changes. PBD writes tunes for IM and TB.
Any thoughts or suggestions for these mods would be greatly appreciated. I’ve got a 2019 GT manual with Lund tune.

Well switching tuners would just be a waste of money.. Especially just to tune a ported factory TB that may or may not work. Brett is a very good porter, is way off base on the tuning side of it. So just buy a ported 18+ manifold and a BBK TB from @beefcake. Or if you have a 18+ manifold already send it to AFS. You won't need any tune revisions for the ported manifold or BBK TB. The MAF and widebands will adjust.

Thanks for that info. Is the BBK more likely to work better and present less problems than a Bret’s throttle body? He uses slightly modified TB of stock size.

Ported TB works no different than factory TB from a tuning standpoint. If any will need re-tuning it's the BBK 90. Especially if the ported stock is coming from Bret. The blade and blade opening are left untouched. The filter side of things is all that gets ported. Gains are arguable but the ported TB idles and drives identical to stock. It's a complete non-issue

You misunderstood what I was saying. I didnt mean that the bbk WILL need re-tuning. More that it’s greater deviation from stock parameters than the ported stock…. Because ported stock is basically no different

I was hoping to hear some general feedback on Tricky Performance as they are fairly local to me and I’m looking for a good shop to be my go to for many of the mods I have in the near future.
