I hear great things about them , and have seen guys use them at the track. Worthy investment . Its on my list right after getting a garage .

I'm seriously considering one. Supposedly, there was an issue with leaking that has since been resolved (in case, you find some used).

I recently purchased a quick jack and couldn't be happier. As the name implies, it jacks up the car quickly. No need for jackstands or jacking rails. Theres some minor assembly required with the hose fittings but is easy work otherwise. It is pricey but imo it is worth it.

Seems that it would be difficult to do something like pulling a trans with these in the way? Looks great for working on brakes, front end, back end or under engine.

One question.

How does it lock in the full extended position??? Hydraulics?? Steel struts???

There's a good amount of room underneath, more than I could safely get, or want to put jackstands at for similar height, but not totally sure about dropping the trans...would have to pull it out through the front or back of course.

There is a steel bar that can lock at two different heights.

I agree - not sure I would want to do a trans, especially a 6 speed where it is just too heavy for me to muscle it out like and 4 or 5 speed (OK I may be a few years older as well).

I would want it for exhaust change, maintenance, and cleaning. I think I like it better than a jack and jack stands - they have never made me feel particulary safe even though in almost 40 years of crawling under cars I have never had a real problem.....

Somewhere on this forum I read that someone did a clutch job with a QuickJack. So I'd say it's possible.

It looks scary to me. Get four 6 ton jack stands and a decent jack and put anything you want up in the air. I do it with my F250 Super Duty Crew Cab 4WD that has a curb weight of 7020#.

I have plenty of jack stands - they are a PITA compared to a lift..... These days it is all about making it easy for me :D

If I had ceiling height I would go full on garage lift, but I do not....

A drive on lift would be great and easy, but dragging two 6' x 1' frames and the power unit around my garage floor would be a real PITA compared to four jack stands and a jack. Where do you store all this while not in use to keep from tripping over it? Not in an old kitchen cabinet like my jack stands. It may work for some, but I'd have to pass. :shrug:

Couldn't you use a QuickJack and stands as lifesavers?

Also considering the price, has anyone had any luck with low ceiling height garage lifts? Mac has a nice looking one for 5,500CAD.

Yes, when I had my 2003 Vete I had one of these;

It worked GREAT and there was nothing I could not do on it - funny the ONLY thing I hated about it was having to drive on and off of it every time I parked in the garage.

If anyone was curious about Quick Jack, I used mine for the first time today. The model is a BLX-7000. I felt that the unit was sound, and I could have a creeper race underneath my S550. I even tried shaking the car, but the brute did not budge (I am not advising you to shake your vehicle..). I will take photos when I lift my car again, as I am expecting a matching set of front rims to come in. You will not want to use a jack again, especially because of how evenly the weight is distributed due to rubber blocks.
