1. A pandemic (from Greek πᾶν, pan, "all" and δῆμος, demos, "local people" the 'crowd') is an epidemic of an infectious disease that has spread across a large region, for instance multiple continents or worldwide, affecting a substantial number of individuals.

The definition seems to fit.

2. Scientists aren’t ordering you to wear a mask. That‘s the role of politicians, based on the ADVICE of professionals.
Of course they don’t entirely prevent infections….
They help to REDUCE the NUMBER of infections that occur.
Tell you what, next time you go in for surgery, tell the staff not to bother with the masks, because “they don’t work”.

3. Blindly following instructions? Clever people don’t need to be told what to do, they’re already doing it. The rules are made for those who can’t seem to work it out by themselves.
