But ford was and is doing it to almost everything they sell. Trucks check. Car check Suv. Check .
Get back to me when any other brand is bending over 95% of buyers .
Just about every vehicle Cadillac sells had a markup on it during Covid and most still do. Escalade, CT4, CT5 (V and V Blackwing especially but base Escalades here have $25k markups and they get it). There is a Jeep dealer not far from me that marks up the Wrangler (all trims) every spring and summer. Toyota models with the TRD packages have been getting marked up as well as the Hyundai N models. Even Kia Telluride and Hyundai Palisade were getting $5-$10k markups at one point last summer. And the Civic Si and Type R. Shall I go on??

Right. Maybe your local dealer but not every stinking one. Nice try though.
When the CEO of the brand agrees with my post. FORD has a problem .

GM’s CEO came out and said the same thing particularly about Z06 markups yet it still happens. It’s not just a Ford issue. And as long as the market continues to pay it, it will continue no matter the brand.

As for it being my local dealers, yeah I don’t canvas the nation for pricing on Toyota’s, Jeeps, Hyundai’s and Kia’s that I have no interest in. So I can only report on what I see. My mom bought a new CT4-V in 2021 so I saw first hand the dealer markup game with the Cadillac brand. And I’m willing to bet that those examples I cited spread well beyond Chicago.

So yeah, you want to $hit on Ford for allowing the dealer markups go right ahead. But to think they’re the only ones doing it is naive. Thanks for playing though.

People need to just step back and stop buying new cars just because they “want” to. They need to keep them longer.

One car not the WHOLE FLEET. Not even in the same ball park .
I GET IT SOME HERE FORD and it's dealers can do know wrong, hell many here gladly paid the mark up becoming a big part of the problem.
We will agree to disagree.

True. But with all this tech it is a risk.
Much of it not needed to start with .

Who Valley Chevy is... https://www.valleychevy.com/about-us/

Valley Chevy is an advertising arm for Chevy dealers in that area. The purpose of the site is to promote Chevrolet products and prove (ahem) they are superior to all other manufacturers.

The blog post, written in 2021, is a lot of "they said". I couldn't readily find any reference information, which is the nature of this site.

Regarding dealers and markups, anything capable of rolling under its own power is marked up here. Can't swing a dead cat in CO without hitting an ADM. :giggle:

Some Chevy dealership wrote this article for Camaro SS vs Mustang GT. It's the most ridiculous thing I've read all summer

https://www.valleychevy.com/camaro-ss-vs-mustang-gt/

At times they choose to compare the ZL1 to a GT

1691264631364.png
It was written by idiots, for idiots.
Comparing the ZL1 to which Mustang...? Clearly not the GT500.
"The Mustang doesn't even have a V6 option!" The Mustang's 4-banger eclipsed the torque of Chevy's V6.
They failed to mention the Camaro's base 4-cylinder. It must be a turbo-lagging mess of an engine, because it's the first car for which I've heard of someone buying an anti-lag device for their street car.

So, the writer is pretending the Camaro's smallest engine and the Mustang's biggest don't exist.

It's good for a chuckle, and then we move on.

...Or if you want to keep the chuckles going, complement the dealership on their writing and ask them to do an updated comparison when the 2025 models come out. 😇

The problem now is that because of our political climate all the new cars in a couple years (and even now) will be different than the new cars in the 2010s (electrification, locked ECUs, tougher emission restrictions, integrated online connectivity without opt-out, integrated cameras/mics, etc).

So get'em while they're hot, because they won't be back.

And yet no one commented on this comparison:

"Motor Trend conducted their own study of handling, and the results they found are in line with what we’ve seen from Car and Driver. In the “Figure Eight” maneuver test, the Camaro SS Coupe was able to complete it in 22.9 seconds at an average g-force of .91. The Mustang EcoBoost Premium Fastback took 25.1 seconds at an average g-force of .75. This is another significant advantage for the 2021 Camaro."

It should be noted that the validity of the article does make me want to purchase a Camaro SS over the tested Mustang EcoBoost! I mean the Camaro SS seemed to blow away the EcoBoost in the "figure-eight" competition! Then again, the EcoBoost Mustang was only 2.2 seconds slower than the Camaro SS!

Anytime somebody starts mentioning their competitor in their advertising they've already lost. If you're confident in the product you sell you should sell it on merit, mentioning the other guy is admitting you're number two.
Yes, it's kind of like how all the truck companies target the F-150 and how theirs is better, etc. That confirms that the F-series is the top selling truck in it's class. Sort of like how T-mobile, AT&T, etc. all compare themselves to Verizon because Verizon is the leader as a cell phone system provider. You never hear anyone comparing their car to a Yugo or Vega, etc. They always go after the #1.

Because fools pay it . If they stopped the ADM s would die .
I don't blame the dealers they are a business and their job is to sell at the highest amount. I blame the customer base that caused it buy paying it.
But when you have a public that bids houses to 80 k over listed or more I am not shocked that this has become the new normal .
These same morons will shop online because the local store it cost 1 dollar more.
Brainless dolts the lot of um.

I don't care what the Camaro guys thinks about Mustangs, I actually like Camaros. The article was just a funny read for me, almost like satire except it wasn't. Thought you guys would enjoy reading it too
I hear ya Leroy. I too like the retro-Camaro. Reminds me of the old days. That's kinda why I like the Challengers too.
My son's friend has a ZL-1 Camaro. VERY fast! Since that's essentially the Vette engine under the bonnet, it's kinda like if Ford offered the GT500 engine as an option in a regular GT I guess.
But, as somebody else mentioned here, if you want to tear up the asphalt, buy a PP1 A10 Mustang GT, put $10K-$11K into getting a 3.0L Whipple installed with the appropriate tuning and Voila! Similar, if not better than ZL-1 performance with an extra $25K-$30K in your pocket to buy other cool stuff (like fat tires and guns! Or, hookers & cocaine! LoL...).

Being in the Detoilet area (Detroit), I am SO TIRED of seeing the same color Camaros, Vettes, and the same flippin' "muffler delete" overly-loud Chargers and Challengers, I could just about puke!
Oh look, there's a really loud light blue Camaro taking off right in front of the nearly identical light blue really loud Camaro! How special! (NOT!).
Mustangs tend to have more personality I think. There is more variety to be had in a "GT" it seems, even when they are stock.

Also, I guess I'm spoiled, but even the C8 Vette, which is also a pretty sexy car IMHO, is starting to get old for me. One other thing on the C8's, being in Detoilet, I have seen the 1st of the 1st of those cars on the street since they were 1st released and to this day, I have YET to see ANY of them be driven even semi-aggressively! Honestly, are their owner's all just old doctors/lawyers on Viagra or what!?! PUNCH IT Hoss! Lets see what she'll do!
Besides YouTube videos, I have no personal knowledge if the C8 cars are actually fast!?! Maybe that's all CGI on YouTube? LoL...

On the mileage thing, I just posted this elswhere on the forum, but when traversing the MI. U.P a little while back, my stock 2020 PP1 A10 Mustang, with the cruise pegged at 90MPH, got 27MPG over a 30 mile stretch of a perfectly flat, perfectly straight section of MI. 2-lane highway. Granted this is an unusual "perfect" scenario. BUT, not driving crazy (this time anyway), over a 550mile trip (with that 27mpg run in the middle of it), at the end, I calculated (at the gas pump fill-up) I had an overall average of 24.7MPG for the whole trip. This includes passing some vehicles on multi-lane interstates and even reducing speeds/stopping at lights & stop signs in some small towns where the 2 lane roads and grandma crossing the street to go to the bar require those things. ;-)

As they say on TV: YMMV
