I'm sure that you are aware of the catch can oil issue. So many threads at the other side.

Does this catch can oil convince you or do you think it is waste of money?

Did anyone install one?

What brand did you choose and why?

Results?

I read something about that some time ago, but my conclusion was that the advantages are moderate compared to having another part to be serviced :D

There are many brands: Mishimoto, JLT, UPR etc.
Basically they all do the same job.

I thought this was mostly an Ecoboost problem?

The FRPP one is best, no maintenance required as it put the oil back in the engine. :)

Are you sure that is available for Mustang 2.3 ?

After all, not big deal to empty the can after 3000+ KM.

A catch can is definitely a wise investment, especially for any vehicle with direct-injection. In the case of the EcoBoost, we performed extensive testing to evaluate which portion of the CCV system was producing the most oil. Our findings led us to develop a PCV-side catch can system and we have had fantastic results with the kit.

This is what we captured after just 300 miles of road use.

Reducing oil entry into the intake tract will provide a few benefits.

  • Reduced carbon buildup on intake valves
  • Retain engine power by maximizing airflow around valves
  • Retain fuel octane to reduce detonation
For a detailed look on our development and testing, check out the link below.

Let me know if I can answer any questions about catch cans and the S550!

Thanks

Installed a JLT and just after 100 miles I had enough oil to lube a couple bicycle chains. I'm a believer...

They do the same but how it holds, collects and works with the factory PCV system is key. Ours includes a check valve to ensure a tight seal when your at WOT (not in vacuum) With out can's diffuser, you will hold more oil, moisture and contaminates then any other out there.

Not sure if you want oil/fuel/moisture going back into the motor as that is just as bad as it sitting in the manifold and getting into the runners. The ford one works off the factory pcv only so when you go WOT, everything will still get by and its not a tight seal. Depending on the filtration they use, we do not know if it will hold much.

The only thing which comes to my mind: if this thing is so important why factories does not install one?
Even a simple one not necessary aluminum etc.
