Hello fellow GT owners,
I live in SoCal and I recently switched my insurance carrier to Progressive since they offered a lower rate. However I've been reading lots of negative feedback on their claims department, the process in getting repairs done, claims paid, and worst of all when a vehicle's value is assessed for total loss. Not sure if it's just a Progressive thing or if customers in California have had better experiences in using them. Either way I'm stuck with them for the 6 month term since I can't move carriers again in such a short time regardless of lower rates offered by Farmers & Nationwide.

Does anyone have Progressive now or has anyone had good experiences using them when a claim had to be made for repairs?
Should I stick with them in 6 months or is Famers or Nationwide much better?

I've had progressive several times in the past and no complaints. Customer service is good and no issues with claims. Except when I was insured by farmers and hit by a progressive driver, then they were a pain but I've dealt with that from several places. I only switched to farmers because they were cheaper when I got the mustang. Kept them 4 years until they jacked their rates up but never liked them as much as progressive. Just switched to state farm in Nov because they blew everyone's rates out of the water.

I’ve been Progressive direct for around 20 years.
Currently have 6 autos and a boat policy. Only had one accident claim about 10 years ago had around $8k repair to a less than 1 year old Focus.
A couple of windshield claims over the years as well.

When I was t-boned driving a previous Mustang, the person that hit me had Progressive and I had State Farm. Both the tow truck driver and the collision shop told me to go through my State Farm insurance instead of the at fault driver’s Progressive. My Mustang was 6 month old and they said Progressive would have required OEM parts to cut costs and State Farm would require Ford parts to bring it back to original condition.

I'll be interested in seeing if any one insurance company gets universally glowing results. Seems like one of those things to me where you'll have as many opinions as customers.

Nationwide all day. They cost more but they settle claims quickly and easy. And there not a thousand questions when you do have to file.

I had Progressive for 14 years. Never had an issue with their claims process. But, in every accident involving another driver, the other driver also had Progressive. So, I guess that would make it easy.

As far as valuing a vehicle. My 2021 Ford Ranger with 21k miles got $36k when they totaled it out. I paid $34k. There was $2.5k left on the loan, but the gap insurance (bought at the dealer, not Progressive) covered it.

However, they jacked my rates up to $640 per month. I went with Geico for $345 per month. Aside from totaling out the Ranger, I've got a ticket for disregarding a traffic signal and a 15-year-old daughter learning to drive. If they hadn't jacked up my rates, I for sure would have stayed with Progressive.

I use Progressive for there commercial insurance. I had a shop for a couple decades and Progressive could be an issue at times to deal with. But so could most of them. Six month policy or not if you did switch to another carrier you would get a rate refund. A lot don’t realize the Haggerty and Grundy will write regular current mustangs at a stated value. The only issue you may have is if its your primary.

I had them for a month or two when I purchased my current house and bundled it with the home insurance until they noticed part of my roof was flat and said they could not insure it so I said the heck with that and switched to branch which was actually cheaper for the first year, but they recently jacked up my auto rates for no reason. But I think pretty much all the places are doing that now.

Why are you stuck with them for 6 months?

If you leave you leave and they should refund the prorated amount.

I just paid my 6 month premiums and am looking to go to Grundy possibly.
