People been doing this for a long time.
Ah really? I'm new to centris but have been turbod before. Just haven't seen anyone on here mention using a boost controller with a centri.

Def interested in trying this out though.

common on the Vortech and paxton blowers, beefcake sells the "torque booster" options

Like check06 said it is called a torque booster setup and works good for someone that can not use all the boost

I have not used one of these, but talked myself out of it (with input from others and my tuner). You bleed off boost, so loose some power. It changes the characteristics of the centri's boost curve. The boost building with RPM is one of the reasons I went centri. Figured this keeps from blowing the tires away, easier on parts, and at higher rpms still building boost.

The idea is to gain power in the lower RPMS, not lose power up top.

Interesting. Probably another thread on this somewhere. But, now that we're here, exactly how does it gain power in the lower RPMs? Assuming that means torque as well?

Yes, which is the opposite of why I wanted a centri. However, I understand making it more like a PD or turbo.

Do you understand how it works?
Never really looked at the torque booster, I just know it's supposed to give you more torque down low. How it works though, not really.

Is it only capable of adding more torque down low? Or can I change it so I don't hit boost until like 2 gear or something ?

Get a smaller pulley for the supercharger, makes more boost and sooner (also make more heat); then the waste gate opens up at a chosen psi and boost to the engine doesn't get any higher (bleeds off).

Suppose your PSI/RPM went something like 4k/4psi, 5k/5psi, 6k/6psi, 7k/7psi with the pulley you had now, and you went to a much smaller pulley it would go something like 3k/5psi, 4k/7psi, 5k/9psi, 6k/11psi, 7k/13psi; torque curve would go left and up; however suppose you want to limit boost to 7psi (safer for the motor, want it to operate like a PD, or whatever reason), then with the torque booster and smaller pulley it would be something like 3k/5psi, 4k/7psi, 5k/7psi, 6k/7psi, 7k/7psi. Torque would come on faster and sooner than the original larger pulley, but peak HP the same (or maybe less). You'd generate more heat and require more HP to turn the blower than the original larger pulley that made 7 psi at 7k. This is an over simplification.

It doesn't really boost the torque, it takes away from the top end.

Ah I see. Seems like a good idea if you want to limit ur power up top to not damage anything maybe?

It's adjustable by a spring correct? So you can change springs and maybe use that top end if you wanted to for a track day?
