Hey Guys. I found a 2019 Mustang EcoBoost Premium that is super affordable around. However, it doesn't have enhanced security package. Unfortunately I live in a relatively unsafe area and sometimes I can see news about car got stolen. So I'm thinking of adding an aftermarket security package. Do you guys have any recommendation on that? Thanks.

Yes, I have a suggestion.

Don't do it.

Don't mess with the electronics on your car, that usually leads to issues. The factory security system will work just fine. And stop watching the news and freaking out over reports of stolen vehicles.

Life happens, have insurance.

This is true but I am also looking for something at least to auto re-lock my doors. This will lower the risk of the bad people or at least get stuff from inside the car if I don't activate the locks.

Modern vehicle systems are very integrated. You mess with one thing, and something else can be screwed up. I've seen waaaay too many issues with after-market security systems, to think they represent any sort of benefit.

Just remember to lock your doors.

Jesus, I lived in Detroit, and never had anything happen to my vehicles. And I've seen car thieves busting into a vehicle in broad daylight in the suburbs. Here in NoVa, the big theft issue is rims on new Civics. For some odd reason any new Civic is almost instantly stripped of it's wheels.....I have no idea why, other than supply and demand.

There's very few real, professional theft rings out there, they get targeted hard.

Have wheel locks, and lock your doors. Other than that, don't be so paranoid that you're willing to take a chance on screwing up the electronics on your new(ish) vehicle.

Well seeing it that way i have to agree that you have a point. In my case just trying to minimize risks.

Thanks for the heads up.

Don't worry, others will post that there's good after-market security systems, and provide information so you can look into them.

That's all just my opinions, others will have different opinions.
