So I've searched through the forum history and read pages upon pages of upgrading the wastegate actuator, and needing a tune to do it. I understand that.

I have already upgraded to a CAI, Plugs, Full Exhaust, Turbosmart BOV, and CPE Intercooler.

Will replacing the stock IWG with the Turbosmart 7lb IWG, running on the Cobb OTS Stage 3 tune be of any benefit without a custom tune?

Sorry for being a noob in advance...

What's your goal with the build? Rule of thumb is to half the spring rate of target boost, so if your target is 24-25 psi, I'd go with 12 lb springs. You'll need a custom tune to avoid over boost, as Wastegate Duty Cycle (WGDC) must be adjusted to accout for heavier springs. Pro-tune's better than OTS anyways.

The 7 psi Turbosmart wastegate does not require a tune. The advantage of it over stock is it's better able to keep the wastegate closed for improved mid range.

My goal is to keep heading towards Full Bolt-Ons and get the most performance out of the stock turbo. My current boost levels are holding steady at 22-23 on the Cobb OTS Stage 3 Map. I'd like to get the 10lb IWG, but I'm not exactly ready to start custom tuning...just trying to verify that the 7lb spring will still make a difference on my current setup.

If you try it, let us know how it works for you. I'm thinking pretty much the same as you, only with Cobb Stage 2. (I don't want the extra noise of a new downpipe, so no Stage 3 for me.)

I wouldn't run anything above the Cobb Stage 1 unless you're using their parts. People have ran into issues doing that and it's generally considered to be a bad idea.

With everything else you have on the car I would think pro tune would give you better benefits vs the waste gate.

I wouldn't start loading up extra parts on any canned tune. The stock turbo is already maxed out with your current setup. Summer is coming and charge temps are going to start skyrocketing too. If you're looking to go full bolt on and stay there, I'd get a good, one-time custom tune with multiple boost settings. What you described doing is going to be a little counter-intuitive.

Thanks for the input guys, I guess I'll wait to purchase the 10lb IWG and get it pro-tuned right after...
