You realize the car's engine management is going to be confused and working overtime to fight you every step of the way until you tune it.
That's the point I was trying to make to him....was hoping someone else could chime in

And Evan I hope you realize you driving it on the stock tune it acts just like the stock setup from what I heard from Vargas.... So not sure what your intentions were, but I think you went about this the wrong way. No offense, just don't want to see you in a bad situation

I am completely aware that stock tune will make the car drive as if it is stock. My plan was purchasing it now change over from my x4 then get my ap3 then get a proper ap3 tune.

Is the car fighting the 15psi wastegate?

I'm new to turbos and I have an aftermarket wastegate, but it was tuned by Adam so I do t have the proper answer. Pm Vargas or Adam at tune plus he is really really knowledgable

:) Thanks guys, I realize there are some obstacles, I'm just trying to figure out the following before doing something stupid :

1. Did TS design their 7 psi WAG as a "Direct replacement" for the stock one? Sent them an email and waiting for a response (next week).

2. If so, does any one have data that suggests it can be readily "calibrated" without a tune (2mm, 5mm, ???) and fit within the tolerances of the stock tune while providing a performance benefit and not harming the engine? Don't get me wrong, I'm all for tuning, I'm just working on a budget here. - Bang for Buck!

3. If so (or even if not), let's get the correct/accurate info out there. I have not found it or at least I have not found specific data for the 7 psi WGA from Turbo Smart.

I'm willing to be a guinea pig to confirm/deny the function of the part, I'm just surprised there isn't more verifiable info.

Cheers and happy motoring!

Oh no, i was referring to the guy who did a turbo swap on the stock ECU.

And as to your situation, I would hold off on the wastegate unless you plan to tune the car. In my opinion your money would be so much better spent on a stock location intercooler upgrade for a few hundred bucks more. That you can easily run on the stock tune. Instead, the ECU will thank you for deciding to lower the charge temps instead of screwing with its boost/load targets. More timing=more boost anyway.

Everyone should get a damn intercooler regardless of their goals. lol The say the stock unit is suitable for the everyday driver but its so bad that even that is debatable.

Datalux - have you upgraded your factory spark plugs yet? Do you have an aftermarket front mount intercooler (FMIC)? Do you already have a catch can installed? And judging by your previous posts, I'm assuming you do not yet have a tuner (Cobb Accessport, etc) or a custom tune, either (correct?).

From all my research, the IWG upgrade is a little bit like putting the cart before the horse if you don't have all the above first.

Plugs Upgrade: http://adamtuned.com/collections/20...spark-plugs-pre-gapped-to-tune-specs-set-of-4

FMIC Upgrade(s): http://levelsperformance.com/collec...g-ecoboost-direct-bolt-on-intercooler-upgrade

(I'm sure there are more, but these are the ones I know of)

Catch Can Upgrade: http://www.uprproducts.com/mustang-billet-single-valve-catch-can-separator-15-ecoboost.html

I understand being on a budget, but you don't want to work the build in the wrong steps because that will KILL a budget. You should probably map out the upgrades in the correct order (or at least much closer than adding an IWG first) to get the most bang for your buck and most power outta the car.

I have a Cobb AP3 with Tune+ tune and Transmission tune. Before adding the IWG the mods I installed were: Plugs, Intake, Catch Can, Downpipe and FMIC, then IWG and ran that on the Cobb OTS Tune while Adam was customizing my first tune. Couldn't be happier w/the results thus far.

Hope that helps man.

You can run a 7psi actuator on the stock tune, however it would need to be installed with minimal preload (1mm max) in order to not have overboost conditions. However, it is not recommended and the spring pressure is too low to really get the benefits that I have documented. It is still better than the factory, especially when it comes to smoothing out boost (with a tune), unfortunately the factory tune is using very low load limiters which causes the throttle body to close, which in turn reduces boost pressure. So when you increase the possibility of boost you are just forcing the throttle blade to close even further. You will get an increase in torque, but you will lose a lot of power.

No actuator should be installed without a tune, in my honest opinion.
