After installation of motor and fixing the oil leaks and such, got it running and ready to go. Car won't go in gear. Shows me changing through the gears, camera comes up when I put it in reverse. Doesn't budge. I can push it when In neutral but not in park. What does this mean? Checked trans fluid and some actually came out when I took off bolt, so it has fluid, maybe to much but it's not dry. Motor went in fine.

Help!!!

I didn't install motor Into car. So ya I went back under there and it looks that driveshaft is bolted up, I can't move it neither. Nor can I move it when car is in drive. But shifts through the gears like I'm driving with the paddle shifter when in Drive. Weird

Make sure the transmission electrical plug is properly installed. Right side of the transmission, near the back. Since it seems you can shift into and out of park, the cable from the shifter is probably ok, but if the electrical plug is not making contact, the transmission can't be shifted into a drive or reverse gear......

Dumb question: is the torque converter bolted to the flex plate?

Also, these transmissions take a lot of fluid. Run the car up to normal operating temp, cycle through the gears, check the fluid after it's back in P or in N. A transmission will look full when it's sitting there not running, but once you start it the level will go low and you'll be all confused about why it won't shift into anything.

It could also be vacuum. I haven't worked on the transmission on this car yet (have a manual) but in some other cars the vacuum modulator not being connected can play games with the fluid circuit since vaccum is high at idle. Depending on the transmission this may be an electrical modulator too.

I didn't install so im not 100% sure how it went in or anything. Or if there was even problems for it going on with the torque converter or trans. My "part installer" did it.. I got a picture message while at work with ithe motor in and I had no clue. And ya I thought a bunch of it came out when taking motor off trans, so I bought the 7 qts I think it says for it. And I didn't need to put any in, actually when I took off that drain plug it spit out a bunch which was weird. I didn't take it off after running the car tho, I'll try that tomorrow and see.
I had to get an electrical schematic for all the wiring from a guy on here, and I ended up getting everything connected.
I don't see any vacuum lines not connected.

Typically when pulling a motor out of a car the transmission may be left behind, or separated once they both come out of the car depending on the space and whether or not anything's happening with the transmission. They'll typically unbolt the torque converter sitting in the front pump of the transmission from the flex plate at the back of the motor then unbolt the bell housing from the engine block to separate them. If any fluid gets lost then the torque converter probably came out unless someone dumped the pan.

When re-installing they mate the transmission to the engine, bolt the bell housing to the motor and install these bolts using the inspection plate or whatever under the car between the torque converter and flex plate as a last step - often they have to either rotate the engine by hand with the plugs out to line up the bolts to the flex plate or just goose it to expose the holes so they can install the bolts. If engine/transmission didn't mate properly (torque converter not in all the way inside the pump) or it's not bolted to the flex plate at all then you get no active engagement between engine and transmission.

Most likely you'd hear lots of noise though if they didn't do this, so I'm thinking most likely your fluid levels aren't what you think they are or there's an electrical sensor not connected or something.

On the passenger side of the transmission, there's a plug from the wiring harness that needs to be plugged in. Make sure that hasn't been left disconnected. That could very well cause what you're describing.

This is on a F-150 but it looks the same and would be in the same general area.

Oh wow ok, ya I looked it up on YouTube and seen it's like a whining noise. So deff not that. So I don't know I'm hoping it is that trans fluid then. If not then it's got to be the connection with the torque converter because it's showing the gear changes on the dash. And when in drive, even more weird, when I have it in drive and rev it, it shows it going through the gears like I'm using the paddle shifter, and it idles weird.
I wish it was a plug.

Worth a try tomorrkw tho to take that off and reconnect just in case, and then check the trans fluid as well since it's close to it.

Ok guys little update. Transmission big plug was in properly and fine. I backed it off and did it again. Trans has fluid. I took off bolt and dipstick in it and ran it through the gears while motor was on to let some come out to make sure it wasn't over filled. Still nothing. Weird thing is. When it's in drive it goes up to 5th gear still like I'm paddle shifting. And is ideling weird. Also on my tuner code keeps coming up of "gear ratio 1 incorrect". There's no wires on the driveshaft housing or like rear end is there? I don't understand this, gears and rear end are stock.

Make sure the converter bolts are in. You did a trans swap from manual to auto?
