Yep, I'm being that guy.

I have a 2016 EBM with the following mods:

-Full Race IC
-MAP Intake
-ATP Catless DP
-MBRP Race Catback
-Tune+ Wastegate Actuator
-Tune+ Sparkplugs
-UPR DVCC w/boomba check valve and gutted PCV
-Adam Tuned for 93 and E30 (loving it)

Right now I'm using Amsoil Signature Series 5w-30. But I'm thinking about switching to an oil that has a high zinc content. (Like Royal Purple XPR 10w-40) Cars running great with 2900 miles. It's been tuned since 500.5 miles. But I'm thinking for longevity it would be better to run an oil with a high zinc content. (I've been reading online again.....)

Or am I just worrying about nothing. I know fully I'm rolling dice on a full bolt on car, if it goes it goes. I'll be blaming myself for the way I drive. But I figured I'd take as many preventative steps I can to keep it together.

Please don't roast me into oblivion, I'm trying to learn more here. This isn't my first modded EcoBoost but there's always something new to learn.

Thanks guys.

Funny, I was thinking about switching to Amsoil myself.

I haven't had any problems with it. I do think it's a high quality oil. But since it doesn't have any zinc I'm not sure it's the best for our motors. I'm obviously not a professional so that's why I figured I'd ask here.

My research indicates a high Zinc content oil is not appropriate for cars with catalytic converters and not necessary due to alternative additives, modern tolerances. I used high Zinc racing oil 10w30 in my 1968 Lincoln Continental to protect the original engine.

I have a Catless downpipe. So I'm looking for something that's good for the motor as I bought and modded this car to, well, abuse it. So I want to have fun with it while protecting it at the same time. I always warm it up, change oil every 3k, avoid lugging it, etc.

As mentioned in the other threads, it'd be good to look for an oil with a low NOACK and low calcium. I'd concern myself with those more so than I would with the zinc content. As mentioned above, almost all modern synthetic oils are going to provide good wear properties, so I wouldn't be overly zealous in picking an oil just for that reason.

Thanks man. Since I have a local guy selling amsoil for wholesale I'll likely just stick with the signature series. It's been good to me so far!
