Hello all,

picked up this GT500 this month. Should be delivered tomorrow. Apparently it was stolen from a dealer early this year and written off, then recovered several months later and branded “salvage” got one hell of a deal on it and I honestly can’t seem to find any other shadow black with painted Kona blue stripes. To me the combo just works and it’s not very common. Let me know your thoughts.
Car will have a set of signature wheels added, FFP CFTP spoiler. It came with the handling package already.

Nice car. What was the actual damage and why was it tagged with a salvage title? And who tagged it? I’m assuming it was the insurance company. Coparts fee’s always got under my skin. Lol

NC DOT gave it a new vin due to the original vin sticker being tampered with. No physical damage that I could see from the photos. Should be interesting when the car arrives. I haven’t seen it in person. Dice roll. I called the NC theft department and they confirmed it was salvaged due to theft and vin tampering. Insurance company wrote it off.

Are you referring to the manufacturer tag that has the vin on it? Or? That one a duplicate can be obtained from Ford. Some states you can get an inspection done to have that reversed. Basically showing an error on there part. Thats difficult if your not a resident of the state that initially tagged it. Still a beautiful car.

I’m actually surprised that crook Charles at FFP actually delivered your order. He’s screwed so many people in our community, even me. 🖕 that guy
Well the spoiler was very expensive, arrived damaged, and had to be repaired. I wanted it shipped back and replaced but decided to have it repaired. He did offer to front the bill but really didn’t want me to return it.

That’s because he’s a drop-shipper, he doesn’t own a warehouse and has no stock. He doesn’t create anything and I’d bet you definitely overpaid for something you could’ve bought from Anderson. But, as long as you’re happy. I try to warn everyone to stay away from that sheister.

so keep in mind I have not seen the car in person and had to put all this together in my head based on pics and some details from the NC Theft Department. I cannot tell if the vin tag on the dash has been removed, I can tell you the door sticker with vin has been removed and in its place is the picture below. The NC DMV gave me the original vin number for the car and I was able to run a CARFAX on it. So honestly I’m Not sure if the NC number would be relevant in Texas especially if I have the vin tag on the dash. I can tell you this NC vin is too short of a number for me to run through any insurance company websites so I may need to use original

Congrats and the color/stripe combo really works in my opinion. Do you mind revealing how much you paid?

If it is missing the dash vin, there are other spots where Ford stamps hidden vins. (They’re actually required to by federal law.) If you can’t find a legit vin, contact your local Highway Patrol/State Police or Sheriff’s Department, their Vehicle Theft unit has access to the location of the hidden vins.

Nice car. Like the color combo.

So if I can get the actual vin on the car somewhere, what would be the next step?

I have no idea what the rules are where you live. In CA they attach an ID number tag like the one you posted. That number is then linked to the original vin.

Most states want to prevent a “vin wash,” where the car is salvaged (or stolen) in one state, then registered in another without a salvage title. They generally link whatever state number they have to the original vin. (I have no idea what NC does, but I’d bet that new number is somehow linked to the original VIN.

You said it was stolen from a dealer. Was it being sold as new or a left over new 21? Just curious, if new what Ford would do about the owners kit. Lol. Just my curiosity I guess. Love the color combo.

It had about 5k miles on it when it was stolen. I’d really like to find a way to get Ford to send a new owners kit. Maybe I’ll get lucky and it’s in the car
