Well talked to my local police and they said I can have the vin reassigned if they can look at the car and verify the original vin which is under the passenger seat. It’s a form they fill out called a vtr-68a and I take it to the dmv when I register the car. I will also order a new fin sticker for the driver door jam. Not sure if ford will issue me a new fin tag for the windshield if I provide all the docs stating it is what it is. Hope so.

Be aware even if the VIN is restored, the VIN has been forever flagged in many DMV/Insurance databases as Salvaged - can wash a title, put a VCL back on it, but can’t wash the VIN history….

Also to note, in the event anyone doesn’t know this, once a VIN is salvaged, Ford no longer honors the factory warranty (if one were to remain). OASIS is flagged with salvage, RAV Buy Back, Lemon and voided warranty history too.

Nice car though, being that is was purchased via copart. So what did you end up paying for it, did I miss it in this thread?

Yea that’s all good to me. Car has a history and I like it but the vin was reissued to show that it was in fact what it is, a gt500 and the CARFAX history tied to the vin showing the history etc.

It’s registered in Texas under its original vin as rebuilt. Which is crazy as there was nothing to rebuild. But that’s what it is due to the vin being removed. Nobody thought to look under the carpet where it was stamped so NC issues a new vin.

Well it’s with a heavy heart that I say the 500 has found a great new home. Amazing buyer and family. They loved the car and understood what it was. Here is the last photo before “she walked out of my life forever”
