Most people don't give a fuck what if your parts don't match your car. It's like wearing exclusively one brand for all your clothes and shoes.Personality thing. I don't get it. When I had my 03 Cobra always found it odd when peolpe would have the Cobra front bumper on a V6 or GT. Or a M badge on a non-M Bimmer. Hell, I won't even put a R wing on my GT350 because it's not a R. Just my personal preference. What I don't like is guys who try to pass it off as Model X, when it is in fact Model Y, that aggrivates me.
I'm with you. I prefer some structure and respect to higher level models. A pecking order so to speak. In my mind adding spoilers to lesser models is not disrespectful in general. I draw the line at hoods, bumpers, and badges. I added a track pack spoiler to my base Shelby and sold the tech package to a GT owner. Yes the R is a bit different in my mind too, it belongs only on Shelbys just because it's so distinctive IMO.Sort of on this note, I've always thought that the GT500 spoiler on S197 cars really looked amazing and was of no disrespect to the GT500. However...
Now that I've seen some base S550's with the R wing on them, I am in the completely opposite side of the field. I think it IS a disrespect to the R and it's not a good look at all. I don't feel the same way about the Track Pack spoiler on base S550's. Am I off basis here? Is my "ego" coming out in a way that's unconsciously pretentious? I do not have an R, just a base Track Pack.
Preciously. I don't get the whole disrespect thing. Like poor people can't have nice things because they are poor? Are 289/427 Cobra replicas "disrespectful"? Are 1960s Shelby Mustang clones "disrespectful"?
They're just inanimate objects. Any asshole with money can own a new GT350. Simply buying such a car warrants no respect, so it's not responsible to disrespect the cars or the owners.
