Also, there is a light by the door. If it's red, its locked.

Not if you are putting it in the radiator where it belongs.Wait, I've been using diesel fuel, is that bad?
Pretty sure that is the steering lock mechanism, not the door locks.Doesn't it automatically lock after a few minutes?
Ive sat inside or stood around it without my fob after its off and you can hear a lot of clicking etc as if things are closing/locking?
No. doors do not lock automatically. I think that is the steering column which does lock down after a minute or two.Doesn't it automatically lock after a few minutes?

It is helpful, thanks very muchYou have a couple of seconds to pull the handle after locking to verify.
Touch the lock notch, then pull the handle and it won't open. This way you can rest assured that it's locked.
Hope that helps a little
I was surprised they don't do that in 2016. I sometimes forget to lock my 2011 because the car I drive most locks automatically.I just wish it would lock as I walk away with the key.
it's scary when you are under the hood! It really does sound like a deadbolt in Fort Knox being locked! hahaYeah, that sucker sounds like Fort Knox locking up. LOL.
This is only if you have the extra security system (forgot the formal name) which is standard on Convertibles. The center console locks as well, so you will hear that thing going off too.
My ford van (in the UK) locks itself as long as you haven't opened a door.Doesn't it automatically lock after a few minutes?
