So I've been reading threads on here till I am blue in the face. Currently I am opting for a Zen Box with one 12" firing into the trunk with the amp mounted on the opposing side of the box within the cab. One of the issues I am running into is finding a sub that is within the spec of the box being .087 sealed that is still worth a damn. My initial thought was JL sub and box but then I would lose a good portion of my trunk. The stealth box is rather expensive and I simply want to take another route. I realize that JL is amazing as I have two sets of JL CW3 components in my F150 with two 10" HX2 RFs.(old school) Also have a sound processor so the truck will sound better than the Mustang ever will. I also do not want to run such an amazing sub or amp that the car's system is suffering. Looking for any recommendations for a good sub for a .087 sealed box and an amp that isn't going to be over driven and preferably matching name brands. Thanks in advance....the search continues....

I went with JL Audio 1000/1 for the subs and a 800/8 for everything else.

Never over driven and small packages.

What subs did you use and were they with the Zen box?

I went with Rockford P3 10 DVC2 shallow mount woofers. I fiber-glassed my own boxes.

I got impatient and pulled the trigger on an amp/sub and box.

I went back on my statement and went JL for the amp...I can replace the sub but the amp I want to bank on.

The sub I went with Sundown Audio 12". I can replace this as it was not expensive. It kept me rather close to the .85 I needed being at 1. I may be replacing it sooner than later, we'll see.

For the box I with with the Zen Enclosure, 12 facing rear in the truck and amp mount in the cab as I mentioned initially. Reviews seem good for this box so we'll see.

Any thoughts on this set up is greatly appreciated. -Shane

I am big RF fanboy, I'm running two 10" RF HX2's in my F150 that are about 10 years old and look and sound brand new. I use to run two 15"s subs with an Orion HCCA 275 at 1 ohm and holy shit it hit like a MOFO.

I am going for more SoundQ on this install.

Morel highs and mids with the two tens in the trunk.

It'll be more sound quality than mine to include my Truck. I may build as I go but I rarely drive my Mustang so I doubt I'll go your route. My Truck is tame but I'll tell you what I did thus far, basic build but more than happy.

Stock Head Unit(Touchscreen)

LC7i Audio Control

JL Audio C3 Components Up Front(tweeter in pillar)
JL Audio C3 Components in Rear(tweeter connected)
JL Audio XD400/4v2 Amp for Highs/Mids

2 Rockford Fosgate 10" HSX2 Subs (10 years old maybe, awesome still!)
Eclipse 34230 Amp for Subs(owned new for over 20 years...still amazing!)
Under rear seat firing down Fox Box for F150 Super Crew

Thank You for your service as well! I retired in 13 after my 20. Was a Navy Mineman.

Sounds nice.

After getting my stuff all connected yesterday I will never build a system again without a TwK-88.

Nice piece of a equipment.

Thanks for your Service as well. After 27 years I finally know what I want to be when I grow up. Lol
