peace symbol is two fingers palm towards the audience, up yours is same two fingers with back of hand facing audience - this i believe comes from long ago times when the English Bowmen would taunt the French by showing them the string draw finders before unleashing a barrage of arrows at them.

Middle finger is the same across most of the world is it not lol.
