Rephrasing OP's situation here:
"I want to bang my engine off the rev-limited ALL THE TIME but the damn Ford engineers put engine management with protection protocols in place to preserve it when treated harshly this way. So I want to do mods that remove all the engine preservation features and beat it to death within 10k miles trying to make my V6 act like a V8."
+1 and then -3

Well that was harsh what's wrong with pushing your engine a little more than the usual for some fun. Just cause he's missing 2 cylinders he has to shift at 3,000 rpm every time? :tsk:

Auto should NOT be hitting the rev limiter, even flooring it.
If Ford is really that bad at programming the auto...well I'm glad I'm buying a stick.

I think it's probably due to wheel spin, it's probably spiking the revs because the wheels are moving so quickly so suddenly.

True! If it didn't shift, why would you call it an "automatic"?

The auto always hits the rev limiter when flooring it from a stop. Ford must not have done too bad a job since the autos are consistently posting faster times

My v6 auto 3.55 rear 1900 miles does the same thing . I drive easy most of the time wonder if trans learns to shift easy then you surprise it with full throttle?
I dont normally turn off all traction devices. It does seem to do it when not totally warmed up. This happens once then I try to reproduce it then it shifts normal. Does not seem to do it in sport on shifter. I have discovered this as part of a break in process of occasional full throttle. Please chime in

Like a couple others pointed out: If you NEED to accelerate faster, you NEED a bigger engine, juice it, or a blower. Swapping valve springs and/or going in and shutting off the rev limiter will do nothing except get you closer to air conditioning your block. I guess if you can afford to take that chance, fine- but why didn't you just wait and buy a GT350R? Ford put that limiter where they did for MANY GOOD reasons- not to "limit your fun".

Maybe I read it wrong but I think the OP is afraid that it's revving that high to begin with, not wanting it to keep going. I personally wouldn't worry about it. Let it shift when it wants to shift and just keep the hammer down!

I actually experienced this the other night and it freaked me out. I was sitting at a red light and wanted to see how fast I could get to 40 .. (I also have v6 auto / 3.55) I thought it was the trans "mis-shifting" because I lost all acceleration and I heard a pop from the exhaust (upgraded roush), I let off the accelerator and maybe a second or two it finally shifted into gear. I called ford and they said the ECU learns how you drive for the first 10k miles (which I thought was BS).. They couldn't explain what happened and told me to keep an eye on it.. I messaged someone about it and they suggested checking the transmission fluid and also keeping an eye on it.

That is BS, this has been discussed a few times on here i think lol. Idle might be learned with the Ford's ECU but NOT shifting that is set in the tune based on engine load and speed. I would be calling back

I don't mean to be picky, but why are we playing racerboy in a v6? that's supposed to be for airport rentals and secretaries isn't it? I'm not trying to offend here, but there is a reason Ford made that the bottom of the food chain and doesn't really promote it at all.
