Why does the audio system turn on when you LOCK the doors? What purpose does that serve? I get it that it turns on when you Un-lock the doors so you hear the chimes in glorious stereo high-fidelity (joking of course) but why do this when you lock the doors or open the trunk?
I noticed it does this because I'm using the 6V from the head unit to turn on my Hertz DSP and I noticed my DSP and amplifier turning on if I re-lock the doors or open the trunk. I would like a better trigger to initiate the audio system turn on/off instead of the 6V signal from the head unit because it's just wonky how it works.
I thought it would be the cleanest and most logical to use the 6V trigger from the head unit but it does some stupid shit like turn on and then turns off quickly if you wait to start the car.
Anyone using the front power port to trigger your after-market audio system? I may need to re-wire my trigger line. I don't like what this 6V output is doing.

Using the 6V audio enable from the headunit is the best idea.
You could use any 12V accessory power that is hot with ignition on, but this will give you a very high chance of introducing the dreaded turn-on/-off pop in your car.

Agreed. I am going to leave it connected to the 6V enable line. I made a voltage converter that takes the 6V from the head unit and bumps it up to 12V because my DSP wouldn't turn on with anything less than 7V. Did some testing and I think I have my startup/shutdown timers in my DSP setup nicely now. No pops that I can tell.

High side switch 6V to 12V converter and schematic. LED shows when the system is on.

I had the opposite experience than what Cathul mentioned(my car is base 6 speaker). I used to have a PAC TR-12 connected with the adjusted timer and all but I still would get the turn off pop because the ACM would shut off before my amp and I had no control over that, so I just got tired of the random pops and reverted back to Acc turn on and mow I don't get turn on or off pops. Now the issue I have is that my active subwoofer has internal capacitors, and after I turn off the ignition only the subwoofer keeps playing for say 5-7secs which sounds stupid. Does anyone know how to get the audio to stop after you shut off the engine?
