Getting near barely used or new viper territory with some of those ADMs. Just my thinking but hey I just have a GT.

Good advise. I just got off the phone a while ago and left my contact number with 6 dealers for an R and also mentioned I would be interested in a 2017 allocation too.
You will need to call a lot more dealers to find a car . . . Locating a dealer that knows they have an R allocation available to buy is the proverbial needle in a haystack.
* Ford will be making approximately 500 R's per year.
* There are about 3500 Ford dealers in the US.
* Some dealers will be getting as many as 2 or 3 allocations, most of the dealers getting an R allocation will be getting only 1.
* That means about 1 dealer out of 10 will be able to get their hands on an R.
* The one's that can get them have a waiting list.
That seems like a LOT of work navigating through that haystack.

special cars bring big money, its the way of the automotive world its not going to change. The value of the R is likely to go up not down.
Just never drive it and keep it under a cover for most of its life.

Or drive it and see it depreciate like any other car.

Roycemek, I am a manager at a Ford dealership in Atlanta. We had 4 allocations. 3 are spoken for and we do have 1 left for a R built the way you want it. $20k over + shipping. If you are serious, let me know. For 2016 R's we did 2 deals to California 90210.

I do not mean to sound mean but my previous post with $20k ADM for a R build is non-negotiable. I posted to help forum members out. Please do not contact me with an offer.

I appreciate the offer Kooter but unfortunately for me 20K + shipping is pushing this over what I want to spend for this car. Thank you for the offer.

Side note... I don't know what it is but Saturday seems like a horrible day to get any info on cars. Every Ford dealer I spoke with today (Sat) seems to have no info on whether they have any GT350R allocations, ordering guy is out, and/or need to get back to me on Mon. Ugg. I'm still working at it but maybe I may have to focus more on weekdays......

Side note 2.... I drove by my local dealer, Galpin, and gathered some unpleasant info. They have two unsold 2016 GT350R's that they are sending to auction and supposedly they are getting six 2017 GT350R allocations. Of course the are selling at steep ADM. I don't know who buys cars from them anymore because of their prices! I guess the silver lining here is that the quantity of 2017 R allocations seem to be greater than 2016's.

Thanks everyone for all the comments.

So I've been at this search for about a few weeks now with not much luck in trying to locate a GT350R even with ADM, 15k or less. Admittedly I've been limiting my search to dealers I would be willing to drive 6 to 8 hours to pickup the car. I'm in Los Angeles so unfortunately that has been to dealers I guess openly known to gouge with super high ADM. I got some good advice from some of the forum members that I really need to expand my search much further, I am now going forward.

I guess some questions I have are in how best to deal with dealer calls over the phone. Should I ask to speak with just any one of the sales staff or should I be asking for a sales manager? My experience thus far is that the sales managers don't seem to like dealing with people over the phone and the sales people on the floor are incredibly nice but don't know anything about availability or even the car for that matter. They end up asking for contact info, emails and such and now I'm getting tons of spam to my inbox from a few of those dealers.
Should I try and send emails first to each dealer?

Are there any lists of Ford dealers by state? Ok, I know maybe a dumb question to ask, but I mean anything other than google?

Luckly for me I've done well these past couple years and have managed to save up enough to make this purchase but I can't believe how hard it has been to try and spend almost 85k on a car. Months ago I was thinking 85k I could get almost anything. haha. Any other advice? Thanks and sorry for the long post. I just had to vent.
I just purchased my '16 Track Pack car at MSRP. I tried various car sites like Autotrader and Cars.com. But I found my car when I searched through CarGurus. Within 500 miles, had to be Track Pack, and 17 dealers popped up with inventory. I emailed each one with the CarGurus quick inquiry email generator and the next morning I got replies from most via email. That dealer I struck the deal with was where I spoke with the internet sales guy. He wasn't the deal maker but spoke with the general sales manager and once they got back to me, they agreed to my offer. The car was originally marked up $15K. I searched for 3 weeks and contacted maybe close to 30 dealers with help from friends as well. Granted, for an R, you will need to expand your search nationwide. Happy hunting!

I was surprised Galpin didn't bring an R to the Fabulous Fords Show. Instead they had their newest custom wide body Mustang. Good luck on your search. I suspect most dealers that had an R allocation at a decent price have a waiting list for those that couldn't secure a 16. I know my dealer had formed a list months ago.
