That's an interesting one. It is quite overpriced because I saw a brand new lead foot gray 18 with the conv pack for $59k. I also see that used one has a tow hook, so more than likely it was beaten on. Plus in all likelihood, it doesn't come with the owners supplement.
A tow hook does not mean it was beaten on. I have a tow hook. I don't go above 3K RPM until the oil is over 190F. I don't do burn outs and always drive the car within specification. I have had oil analysis done at every oil change and each has been normal.

The first 100 miles are the most critical for engine break in and even if you buy one new (which I've seen with lots of extra miles) it doesn't necessarily mean you are getting a factory fresh engine that hasn't been beat on.

You are always better off buying a car new because you are the one who controls how the engine has been broken in. If you can positively determine a vehicles history (like I did in my HR 361 thread), I would have no problem looking into a used vehicle.

Best of luck in your search.

True. Ideally I wanted to buy it from a fellow forum member, because, they typically are car enthusiasts and really care about taking care of it.

The high starting price of this most likely kills any negotiating imho. Also, I should have rephrased my statement of it being beaten on. I should have correctly said that it probably has been tracked.

I see your point. If I was buying one of these cars used and in the blind, I would walk.

best of luck.

Edited to add: these are track cars, that is what they were designed to do. They were not designed to be cars and coffee cruisers that do burnouts at the exit.

I'm fully aware of that, but if you were in the market for a used 350, wouldn't you want one that was in top shape? Looking around various forums, CarGurus, Autotrader etc, there are many ads that straight out say that their car has never seen snow, rain, tracked etc.

I would buy my car if it was for sale, but it's not. I recommend you buy a new car unless you can verify how the car was broken in and used. Don't forget these were designed for track use. As long as they are driven and serviced within specification, they are fine. PM me if you wish to further discuss this.
