I am unhappy that Ford won't fix my car, I am not talking about a slight panel gap either. Panels were wielded onto the unibody very crooked and I didn't have to look for it because it's obvious when your door rubs the fender opening it, rear side windows are not flush against the weather stripping, trunk is very crooked and the hood is so crooked that there's huge gaps between the lights, hood, and fender and light leaks out of them. The rear bumper and fender were so far apart you could see the bracket they attach to.Maybe there is an expectations problem here. Speaking for myself, I never expected my car to be perfect. I didn't go over it with a "fine toothed comb", measure the panel gaps with a digital caliper, or threaten to "refuse delivery" if the dealer did any one of the number of things that many of the people on this forum deem unacceptable.
I bought my car to drive, and in 4 months I have spent about 220 hours doing just that - covering a little more than 8400 miles so far. In that time I have thoroughly enjoyed it.
Have I had some problems? Yep.
In the first week I had to have the passenger side windshield wiper arm replaced because the pivot pin was falling out. The dealer had the part shipped in next day air, and they fixed it in less than 10 minutes the following day.
I have really bad brake squeal. I waited until the TSB was posted before taking my car in because I don't really like wasting my time. I have an appointment tomorrow morning, and I fully expect that to be addressed as well.
My rear windshield is not mounted flush - like just about everyone else's. I would not have noticed this if I hadn't read about it on this forum, and it doesn't bother me, so I won't bring it up with the dealer.
All that said, there are a couple of features that I wish the car had, based on my experiences driving lots and lots of rental cars - but I knew that the Mustang didn't have them when I ordered mine, so I can't really criticize the car based on those.
Wish list:
- Heated Steering Wheel
- Heads-Up Display (with digital speedo)
- Proximity Locking
The point is that my experience is just as valid as yours. I am happy with my car. You are unhappy with your car. I get that.
I still enjoy the car but it's frustrating that Ford is refusing to fix it.
