I’m curious why you want to add a separate three way in the rear? Just from an audiophile perspective your rear should be fill and not surround sound. When properly staged you shouldn’t even notice the rear speakers playing.

That being said, it’s your car and your money so if it were me I’d replace the rear deck with 6.5” components and then you can run speaker pods on the rear sail panel for the 3.5 and tweets.

To get better sound out of the rear deck you’ll need to punch the holes out that cover the speakers. That carpeting is really thick and kills the output of those speakers. Here’s how it looks when done.

I / the shop is going to do the holes in the rear deck. And the additional speakers are there for rear fill and to replicate surround sound. I have yet to hear a mustang that has only upgraded rear deck speakers/amp that sound anything but mediocre. I want it to sound as good as my S580. I am taking it to a shop on Saturday. I have another project so 🤞🤞🤞🤞 hopefully 🤞🤞🤞🤞 they can get the job done.

im a big proponent of 4 speakers- 2 component, 2 coaxial, 4ch, sub amp and a box . even inexpensive stuff can transform a car and help the owner figure out what direction they want to go when there ready to spend the big boy money on some seroius speaker's if you so trip down that rabbit hole. i installed my system from the previous car soihad it for a week i didnt even bother turning it up lol it was trash and i have a long standing beef with every bose audio system used in factory cars since 2000. if its all lows it must be bose. wish they died with nissan /rant

First try changing your source to streaming 320, flac or wav and see how it's sounding. Sirius and Bluetooth are the worst on any system.

Buy a couple of your favorite songs in flac or wav on USB and go from there.

My 9 speaker was transformed with DSP amp controlling sub amp and mid grade speakers and sub incl center speaker. Buying used or recently discontinued for local audio dealer who needs to hit quotas or from DIY mobile audio is a great way to go.

All speakers in similar price are decent it comes down to DSP tune. I just bought whatever was on heavy discount an it's amazing.

[/QUOTE] gtyosh I edited this. For somereason when I edited this the wrong comment apeared
Ì hang out n a couple audio groups and people recomend the dsp because it's a crossover and eq all built n one.
I personally am old school and have a kenwood. It does everything he mentioned and I am happy with it. Eq, crossover, gain control, and measure distance between the speaker and where exactly your ears are. The only thing I think it has that a dsp doesn't for quality sound is I can enter the exact speaker size for the speakers and the sub.

This isn't the best explained comment just today's comment
