Add Car Play to 2016 Sync3?

Have a 2016 Premium 400a car and would like Apple car play. Is it as easy as just changing the media hub like the f150 in this video?



If so, have a link where to get the right one?

Media hub and Sync 3 has to have version 2.0 or higher. 2016 models came with version 1.0 and that won’t work. Version 3.0 just came out so do that.

I changed the media hub on my 2016 F150 with sync 3.0 and car play works perfectly

I was in the same situation changed the media hub but when i upgraded sync version 1.0 to 3.0 ,i lost voice recognition had to revert back to 2.2 to get it back and left it with this version,if you search a few had problems with voice going 1.0 to 3.0,so my advice would be upgrade to 2.2 before

Ok thanks guys, will update to 2.2 then 3. Also just found this and by the sounds of it it doesn’t even mention a media hub?

You need to change media hub .....bought mine on ebay

Make sure to update all the way to sync 3 then just buy the usb port and swap it out super easy takes 30 seconds to swap usb ports but a little a longer to update the system.

Many of you said to update to version 2.2 first then the new 3.3version. Problem is I can’t find a working link for the 2.2version. Any of you happen to have that version to drop box me?

Just FYI updating to 3.3/3.4 requires updating your APIM as well. There are a few threads on how to do this. Just cannot look at the moment.

I downloaded my 2.2 version on the SHO forum ,i left it with this version (2.2) works fine for me

Well thanks the link works. I downloaded it and tried, unfortunately that only works with Nav and mine is non-nav. Any more ideas where I might find 2.2 for non nav?

Thanks guys it is extracting now, two different files and updates so it will take a while to get done. Also just ordered a media hub! So do you guys recommend staying with the 2.2 or after it installs go ahead to update to latest through owners.ford.com?
