Easy to remove.
Keep the electrical connector and remove the little motor.
Dump the shutters and zip the the connector and the motor to the crash bar.
The ecu will never know the shutters are gone, the motor will send the proper signal. No codes.
This is exactly what I did as well.

Anyone have a pic of this? I don’t have the car yet and would like to know what this is.

I have a 2018 non-PP GT. I'm about to install the Cervinis grilles and see that the instructions have me remove the active shutter system. Will this have any negative effects? Why isn't this system on the performance pack cars?
I have a 19gt and mine seem to be malfunctioning they open and close constantly without stopping I also have a Code for the active grill sensor. I’m thinking of deleting it but is there a kit I need to purchase. ? Did you remove it?

If anyone on this thread who deleted their active shutter would like to sell the actuator, Ford part FR3B-8576-AA, PM me with your price. Likewise, if anyone has had luck sourcing the actuator, let me know. It seems Ford in their infinite wisdom are selling the entire active shutter assembly only.

Old thread, but this may be of help to future users. Moving the AGS actuator behind the crash bar still results in DTC's but not a CEL. The DTC's are related to position as it will spin and never calibrate full open or full closed. The actuator goes through a calibration on every startup. Since the 2018 EB's don't have the AGS, it should be possible to program the PCM in Forscan to not store the error codes or simply designate the AGS as not present. If someone has the Asbuilts to do this, please let me know. At this point, I'd prefer to remove the entire 15-17 AGS including the actuator instead of spending $600 to replace the full grill assembly only to have the non-replaceable actuator fail from use in the future. If you have a 15-17, use Forscan to check for DTC's. If the car has over 80k miles, it's very likely the shutter actuator has already begun failing to calibrate full open and full closed.

Note that the 15-17 use a different model AGS that was quietly redesigned in 2018 to use a different actuator. If your 15-17 actuator fails, Ford does not sell the part separately and you are forced to buy an entire new grill shutter. If you buy this at the dealership, check to make sure it includes the actuator because many have been parted out due to such a common failure. Be wary of aftermarket parts as none include the actuator. Beginning with the 18 re-design, you can purchase the redesigned actuator separately and it is readily available. The 18+ actuator is not backwards compatible with the earlier 15-17 cars.
