Hello everybody,

i have a premium GT with Adaptive cruise control and forward collision Warning. I recently installed the fanged GT lower grille, and upon the Installation, i realised that i need go get rid of the radar plate at the left part of the Front bumper. Since i hat forward collision Warning and never use ACC i didnt give it much thougt. After starting the vehicle, i got the error message "no forward collision Warning" as expected, i presumed that i could still use the regular cruise control. Sadly i cannot do that. I think that this is becuase of the Forward collision Warning, do you guys happen to know how to just keep the regular cruise control?

thanks for all your help, sorry for possible language difficulties (im from germany)

Sorry to hear about the trouble! As you found out, the system is very sensitive, and any modifications to the front end of the vehicle can result in the system being inoperative. When adaptive cruise first came out on Ford models, if the system became disabled, you no longer had any cruise control function.

Luckily, newer models like the S550 have an override function for the adaptive cruise. By using the Instrument Cluster menus, you can change from adaptive cruise to normal cruise control. You can reference this on page 160 of your owner's guide (3rd Printing).

Thank you very much for you suggestion. The Problem is, that the adaptive cruise control button is greyed out, i cannot acces it to change it to normal cruise control mode. I changed it prior to removing the Radar plate, yet it didnt seem to remember. Is there some possibility go completeley deactivate the Forward collision control through maybe a Tuner or something? Or do you have another idea? Is there maybe a fuse i can pull?

I got a different issue if you don't mind me hijacking for a minute, mine sometimes goes off around a corner despite no cars or deers being around

Any idea what that could be?
Lower your sensitivity, mine does it too but I don't mind.

Keep mine on high as the random annoyance is worth the peace of mind

You discovered the interrelationship of computer driven systems. Sometimes a disconnect , will affect a system not directly or indirectly related to the changes one can make to the car : ie regular cruise control & lower grille design. Not too long ago this was not the case.

You can get custom As Built data file built for your car.. I can do it.. but JMR is REALLY.. REALLY good about this.. he adds all kinds of features and disables all kinds of features..

Thank you very much for your idea, sounds like a good plan. I suppose he is a user here? I couldnt find someone by that specific user Name. How would i be able to install a Customs data file?

Thank you for your trouble

Yes.. he is.. I will talk to him today.. in order to install a custom file you would need a dealer or a person with IDS to pull in the file.. I think it is JMR061... He will charge you.. but if he can do it.. it will be worth it..

Sorry to hear that. Sounds like the module configuration must disable the entire system when a fault is detected, even the "normal" cruise control function. Pulling a fuse will cause the same fault to be present, because the other modules on the network will not be able to talk to the C-CM. The only possibility would be to have the As-Built data changed, as other have mentioned. However, that can be quite complex on these newer models.
